81 Tasting Notes
I love this tea. I love smokey/baked goods-y black teas. I was hoping that I could score another tin with the free shipping promo going on now BUT ALAS. I was tempted to get a back-up Double Knit Blend but…I haven’t even opened the one I have yet. shrugs
I woke up at 1PM today. 1PM. that is craziness and I don’t know how that happened, but even waking up at such a late hour I felt so groggy. this was a sample from the July Sipsby box and it was alright, I put a bit of almond milk in it because who knows and enjoyed it with a stroopwafel. and because I’m a klutz, I also spilled about a tablespoon of the leaves on the floor! THE FLOOR where my cat drags little tiny bits of litter everywhere! so, those leaves ended up being sacrifice to the old ones, who I hope enjoy a brisk tea.
so, two of these lil’ packets came with my Snakku subscription (slightly off topic: I tried this subscription randomly and have really enjoyed it, it has beautiful presentation, and I’m usually more excited for this box to come in than the yarn subscription I’m doing, and that is a huge deal. I love snacks?) and the first packet was iced and it was okay, I think that I may have overdone it with the water. the resulting matcha was pretty weak. a couple of days ago I made the last packet hot and it was so good! maybe a bit sweet for my taste, but still very enjoyable.
on Tuesday this past week, I had to go to a ‘required’ training that had nothing to do with the work that I do, but was given food! breakfast! a kind of coffee cake and some fruit (I took my water bottle bc there was only coffee) and LUNCH!! sandwiches! and wraps!! they also had sweet tea, which I got thinking ‘it can’t be that sweet’ and also thinking it would wake me up, I forgot that I am literally in TX and there was so much sugar that I wanted to die. comparatively, to that sweet tea, the matcha latte was pretty tame.
found this tin and thought it would be a good substitute for my regular ‘I-have-to-go-to-work-and-need-matcha’ morning. though, technically, this does have matcha in it as well. I love this tea and will have to savor what little I have left until the winter.
(drinking this iced, because everything needs ice in the summer)
a few of these were included in my latest sipsby box and because I’m obsessed with iced matcha for breakfast, I decided to try one out this morning and it’s okay. I’ve been spoiled with the various offerings from Material Matcha Uji and ehhh. I do like the packet though, I’m pretty dead in the morning and just dumping the contents into my travel mug was nice.
I backed these teas via Kickstarter last year, and received MMU01 and MMU03 from the original campaign. and recently (somehow? in a strange kinda fugue?) acquired MMU02, which I haven’t tried yet. MMU01 is definitely ‘sharp’, if you are into more sweet matchas, I would probably skip this and get MMU03 (or maybe even MMU02? I can’t say yet!), but I really like the sharp-kinda bitter grassiness of this one. just give me some grass water, probably? currently, I’m drinking this iced because it is the most terrible time of the year and I need ice in everything. even my cat gets ice in his water most mornings (but he is also very very spoiled). anyway, this ice kinda helps cut the intensity of this tea, which is fine.
