So….I thought I was getting better and expected to be 100% today, and instead find myself back to where I was day before yesterday, just not coughing as much. My throat is raw and sore and feels best when I am drinking tea so I prepared another gong fu session for hubby and myself tonight.

As I went through the envelope so generously sent by K S I read off the name of each tea, trying to pick. I was a little wheezy and my voice is a lot deeper than usual. When I got to this one I said, “Jade Oolong from Little Red Cup? Aren’t you pretty! Yes, I believe I will have you tonight.” And I totally sounded like a perve. A weird tea perve, but a perve nevertheless. Seriously, I creeped mySELF out.

So in an embarrassed silence I prepared the tea with a single moderate wash of the leaves and then about five steeps. My tastes are the most occluded tonight that they have been all this while, but the impression I got was fresh, green, sweet veggies, not roasty, rather light. It definitely blooms when it cools a wee bit. We made over a liter of tea from one teaspoon of leaves and I really want more, so I am off to the kitchen to get more water and more leaf.

Hubby liked it. I asked his opinion since he hasn’t been sick and he said it was very good oolong and he would call it vegetal. He’s come a long way, baby!

Thank you, K S!

Oh come to me, my precious Lol, you’ve made a Gollum out of yourself, didn’t you? You gave me a good laugh! on a more serious note, hope the tea helps your throat and that you’ll finally get rid of this nasty virus soon…

I was picturing Patty or Selma Bouvier when you were describing your voice. Apparently I wasn’t creepy enough. Got to laugh… unless it makes you cough ;) Glad you enjoyed this one.

I am a music teacher, tutor, and former homeschool mom (25 years!) who started drinking loose leaf tea about fifteen years ago! My daughters and I have tea every day, and we are frequently joined by my students or friends for “tea time.” Now my hubby joins us, too. His tastes have evolved from Tetley with milk and sugar to mostly unadorned greens and oolongs.

We have learned so much history, geography, and culture in this journey.

My avatar is a mole in a teacup! Long story…
