12 Tasting Notes

The subtle cranberry flavor has gotten me hooked on this one. At first I wasn’t sure if the black tea base was going to be overpowering so I made sure to steep this one at 3 minutes as too avoid any hint of bitterness. I’m also loving the orange aroma from the hot cup as it sits at my work desk this afternoon. It’s like having a comfy blanket at that dreaded 3pm lul.

I reviewed this tea on my YouTube channel over the weekend as it was a request from a fellow subscriber. I was told that this tea is very popular among the Harney and Sons brand and I had to give it a whirl. I was very pleasantly surprised when I did the blind tasting. I normally brew my teas at only 3 minutes instead of 5 to make it less bitter for me and I found the sweet spot for this one! No bitterness detected, but a smooth vanilla finish with notes of citrus and bergamot lingering on my tongue afterwards. I will definitely keep this one around and make it one of my to-go black teas.

Thought I’d give this one another chance after my previous review. This is my first time cold brewing an iced tea so I knew it there would be some experimentation going on. I cold steeped overnight in pitcher and dove right in! I am pleasantly surprised that I didn’t get that same strong black base in the first sip. As a trade off the tea is very sweet on it’s own without any sugar, but a weak. Now I can truly say that I can drink this iced tea and taste the peachy goodness _ Bumped up my rating since last time!

Getting over my cold since last weekend and my taste buds are back into action today. Per my usual 3pm green tea ritual I decided to taste something a little more tart. The wonderful fruity scent of this tea is what made me run to the cash register at the S&V tea shop last year. After steeping at the full 3 min, the color turned a pale pink and the scent still remained as my co-worker piped in how she loved the scent from across the room! The taste is quite tart due to the hibiscus, but not too much that is has turned me off as there are sweeter notes due to the honey and almond. After finishing the cup I am treated to a great light fruity aftertaste that still lingers on my tongue for a while. All I can say is yum!

Hold on to your socks, this tea is strong! This blend requires 5 minutes of steep time according to the tin, but next time i’ll try 3 minutes. As with other English Breakfast teas, the milk and sugar compliments this tea very well. This would be great as a coffee substitute for most people :)

Yah, go for 3 minutes, and vary the amount of tea depending on the strength you want. Try for 2 steeps.

Not too bad of an iced tea but not as fruit tasting as I would have liked. I ended up mixing a few cups of lemonade with this batch in a pitcher and it balanced out the taste a bit. I’ll give it another go next time and see if I can steep it longer since it is an herbal tea.

I really loved the smell of the tea from the tin and was hoping for that sweet peachy flavor. Unfortunately I can barely register the taste of peach and got mostly a strong black tea base instead. I brewed this in a large pitcher for my guests last weekend and they see to like the taste at least. I’ll try steeping for a less minutes next time to see if it makes a difference in sweetness.

I decided to order this because I needed something added to the usual bland flavor of chamomile other than honey or lemon and this tea has not disappointed me yet. It has helped with indigestion numerous times and tastes good to boot. The orange peel is strongly represented but not all too tart at the same time. The chamomile base is still present, but evens out the citrus taste in general.

I’m a huge fan of the DA show so it was bound to happen that I pick up at least one of their marketed teas. A lot of rose in the ingredients, but I mostly pick up a raspberry flavor. Tastes very sweet to me unless you steep it too long and then you get more of the tart flavors, which is way too much for me. This is definitely a stand-alone dessert kind of tea perfect for after dinner.

Less steeping time and a little more tea can go a long way taste-wise! I like my black teas sweeter and the trick to this tea is to steep it a lot less to make it less bitter. I might try it at a different temperature next time too to see if it affect the taste as well. I love the almond and slight vanilla notes while sipping this tea. It’s like a dessert in a cup :) Had to pass this along to my mother to share the love of this tea.

Favorite tea flavors: Fruity teas with a green base. Nothing with a lot of tart hibiscus flavors. I like my black teas sweeter and adore the nuances of Earl Grey with Bergamot notes. Giving Oolongs a chance when they pair with fruity flavors.

Tea Flavor Dislikes: Earthy, smokey, vegetated, overly floral (Dragon pearls I love though) & too strong black base flavors
