OoooooOooooooooOooooh. My first thought was spinach, followed by butter, asparagus, and grass. It tastes like fall rain. Definitely not what I was expecting, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Am I the only one tasting the faintest bit of licorice? There is a lot to love about this tea. It is lovely.

Mmmm….Thank God for this tea. It’s a bit toasty, and does remind me of sponge toffee. There’s a teeny tiny hint of saltiness, and just the right amount of caramel. This tea is beautiful, it is not overpowering and it just wraps me in a warm blanket of happiness when I drink it. I am in love.

drank Pink Lemonade by DAVIDsTEA

VERY sweet, not mentioning the fact that I added rock sugar, not knowing it was already sweetened. Made it iced, I like the idea behind the tea, but it wasn’t very good. I’ll still give it another chance as I find it tastes of pink lemonade en masse, which I love. Next time, no sugar.

Bought this online and am now looking to exchange it for something else. I do not taste maple here at all. To me, it tastes like a dead wrinkled up maple leaf that’s been picked from the dirt and steeped. So sad to think that for the same price I could’ve just bought real maple syrup.

UPDATE: I had this one iced and it is MUCH more palatable. I did add some rock sugar, but the maple syrup taste IS there, and it is quite lovely actually. I will up my rating from 19 to 69, but not any higher since in my opinion, this tea would be much more enjoyable warm if it had the right flavour.

Update again: No wait, 69 is still too high. 50.

drank Coco Chai Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

Everything I’ve ever wanted from a chai, it’s spicy, has depth and makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I taste cinnamon, cloves, pepper and coconut…The taste reminds me of the smell of allspice with a soft sweetness hidden somewhere in the middle. It is truly wonderful

205 °F / 96 °C 8 min or more 2 tsp 240 OZ / 7097 ML

This has a bit too much going on for me. The taste is good, but overwhelming. There are too many flavours trying to shine through and it’s making my taste buds shut down. If my taste buds had thoughts, they would be ’ Banana! Honeydew! Papaya! Mango! Coconut?! Some kind of tropical Kool-Aid! What am I tasting?? WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW?? Wow. ’

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 7 OZ / 200 ML

Hmm…I taste honey and…peaches almost? There is a bit of grass, but nothing overwhelming. This tea is very good, I like the fact that I question myself about the tastes on my tongue, instead of the usual BAM OK THIS IS (insert super obvious flavour here). It is very mysterious this one.

Had this yesterday and forgot what it tastes like. I NEVER forget a tea that I like. I didn’t chuck it though, so it must of been average.

drank Love Tea #7 by DAVIDsTEA

Ooooh, this tea is tricky…The first half of my cup is intoxicating and sweet and rich and lovely. The second half of my cup is just too much. I find it can taste a bit like cough syrup after a while. Verdict: very good, in small quantities.

Profile

Bio

I was introduced to the world of tea after trying to find a way to stop binging on sugar at night (I have a bit of insomnia). Then I had the brilliant idea of going to David’s Tea to get some sweet dessert-y teas to replace all the crap I was eating, whilst still satisfying my sweet tooth.

And then I tried an Oolong and I was done for.

So this is me, exploring the world of tea with excitement, spending way too much money on it, drinking impressive amounts of it, and although I do love flavoured teas, I am now beginning to try high quality straight teas, and trying to learn as much as I can. I have rarely been so passionate about something so quickly.

My boyfriend thinks I am crazy with all my teas. I actually hide some from him when I get deliveries, just so he won’t panic haha. When he does say something, I just reply that to me, tasting tea is like tasting wine, and it brings me the same kind of joy as eating chocolate or eating fine food. Only better.

Flavours I Like: Most fruits, Cinnamon, Licorice, Cloves, Pepper, Caramel, Vanilla, Chocolate, Cardamom, Floral Teas, Honey, Coffee, Pastry/Bread, Smoky, Woody

Flavours I dislike: strong vegetal tastes (a little is ok), Rooibos, Mate, Lemon, Raspberry (for the most part), Orange, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Overpowering Mint,

Other than that, un-related to tea, I love make-up artistry, parrots and birds (in real life, not objects lol), crime and trial stories, flowers, baking, wine, reading, collecting teapots and mugs and stand-up comedy.

I love Dexter, Orange is the New Black, Hannibal, all reality food and cooking series…

As I’m re-reading this I can’t help but to notice how I love extra dark things and extra happy things with no real middle. Hm. xD “I like staying up to date on murder trials…and drinking tea while bird watching!” I’m NOT weird, I swear. :)
