431 Tasting Notes

I really enjoyed this blend and I am confident that I will enjoy it even more once I get the water temp and steep time configured. It is cool from the candy cane but not overly and the vanilla and cream made it smooth and rich. I did however get w weirdness from the black tea base but think I can get it worked out once I play with the water and times. Otherwise, a solid blend and gets better as it cools.

Bumping up a whole bunch :-)

While creating a spreadsheet log inventory of all of my teas, yes it has come to that. I decided to have some of this tea. I think I have finally figured out how to make this tea right and once I got it right I really did enjoy it. It was creamy and mint and just pure yum. As for my log so much more to go. Think I will take a break now.

Ooo, tea spreadsheet! I’m totally doing that in Bento now! (Sorry, geeked out there again)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

LOL I was thinking database but needed something quick and easy to access, and since my primary device is my iPad I thought I would use the Numbers App..no bells and whistles but gets the job done. :-) Oh, and geeking out is so allowed!

Lori

Spreadsheet-that’s what I need. But I am finally organizing teas into these plastic tubs at least.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Yay! For organization. Just from the teas I have logged so far I found many surprises. I just love surprises. :-)

Ricky

Wait I’m confused what are you logging o.O

Steep times? Quantity. Uhoh, why am I asking this? Must stay away….

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I am creating a log that lists all of the teas I have in my possession and categorizing them.

Southern Boy Teas

Isn’t that what the Steepster Cupboard is for? Maybe you should ask Jason to add the ability to tag the teas (for categories, etc.).

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Yea I agree but I need something look at quick and doesn’t need Internet, I want to quickly see where I am with my teas. I hope that makes sence. I am still using the cupboard here but want I am doing is filling w completely different need for me.

Bumping up. This one just keeps getting better. It has a great sweet, creamy, smooth, vegetal flavor. It just hits the spot and is great for resteeps.

Thank you Doulton for this tea. I have been curious about it for some time. :-)

This one really scared me. If you smelled it you would have been scared too. However, it isn’t bad. As a matter of fact this was a little sweet and the beer flavor was slight and mellow. Not bad, nothing I would purchased but definaetly happy to have tried and surprised to find it was better than expected.

The jasmine was a little muted this time but still yummy!

No different than Jasmine #12 (which is very good) and more expensive, but since I got mine for free I’m happy lol. Just not something I’d ever buy myself.

I found this tea to be gorgeous I just wanted to keep looking at but then I realized if it looks this good I wonder how it tastes and it doesn’t disappoint. I felt It had depth of flavor and a touch of cocoa. It was delightful.

Thank you ThePuriTea for sending me this wonderful sample.

Still yummy as always but I did bring it down a few points only because since the last I tried this my ranking changed a bit with experience. Still a very yummy tea!

I found this to be ok. The matcha was in charge and at the end I tasted a bit of tartness from the strawberry but it wasn’t strong, I think I will try this again and hope if I play with the measurements the strawberry will come through better.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C
Cofftea

What ratio did you start with?

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I kinda just made it I don’t have specifics. Next time I will make perfect measurements. I just went Willie Nillie on this one. I think I spelled that right. :-)

Cofftea

Haham yeah for most people matcha is about the perfect measurement so you may want to measure it next time.:)

Cofftea

lol no clue where that m came from…

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I know I just wanted matcha now so I made it quick thought I would get it right.

Cofftea

As long as it wasn’t chunky, I think you made it right:) This isn’t something that screams “STRAWBERRY!”

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Definitely not chunky the matcha itself is great just thought more strawberry.

Bumped this up a few points. This time I used less tea and after it was steeped I used a little sweetener and some almond milk. It tamed the cayenne right down but left enough to give you a bite, it was delicious!

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 30 sec
Cofftea

I find it interesting how different tea drinkers are. For me, less leaf and sweetner gives me a really wimpy chai. Maybe the difference is the almond milk.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I agree milk really dilutes a tea but the almond milk does not effect it in the same way. You should give it a shot and tell me your thoughts.

Cofftea

Actually, the sweetener is what dilutes it for me- not the milk… given that you compensate for it by increasing the steeping time slightly. I like my Smart Balance Milk just fine- I need it to lower my cholesterol anyway. Thanks though.
