I picked up a package of this tea on an impulse while at the grocery store. The package says:
“Metabolism boosting green teas have shown to aid with weight loss. This powerhouse has been carefully blended with sweet orange and ginger. A little piece of heaven. Soft and smooth with powerful health benefits. also great iced.”
It sounded good to me and I bought it.
I prepared this tea today. While I can’t comment on its metabolism boosting claims I can definitely say this:
The clean aroma of citrus peel greeted me as soon a I opened the package. It smelled mighty good. I decided to make a full pot.
After steeping, I poured it into my mug and took a whiff of it. It was fairly subtle. Quiet, actually, with just a faint scent of ginger under the oranges. It seemed good.
I began to drink. It was pleasant, no bitterness , but nothing spectacular, either.
I drank the entire pot over several hours. I had it both hot and iced. As I said, it was pleasant but not the best by any means. Yes I will finish using the package, but no, I would not buy it again.

Interesting! I recently tried Buddha Leaf for the first time too. I think it was the Caribbean/coconut one that I took. Same thing: it was pretty alright, but nothing special. Prolly wont be getting it again. I guess we shouldn’t expect too much from grocery store tea? Idk lol.

White Rabbit

Hi Mookit – BTW I notice that you are also from Vancouver. We probably bought it at the same place!

Kirkoneill1988

on your advice, i will not be trying this tea :)

Mookit

Yeah I think they only sell it at IGA :P Will you be trying the other ones? I don’t think I will

Mookit

Maybe we could swap a bit of each of our Buddha Leaf teas so we can try them without wasting more money, ha!

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, IGA? is that the grocery store? i thought they all closed down

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, sorry if that sounded rude :(

Mookit

Lol not at all! I think you’re thinking of Safeway. A few of those have starting closing down (I think). IGA is relatively newer, more organic-oriented.

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, we used to have iga’s in ontario, canada. most if not all have closed

Mookit

Interesting, maybe they moved here from there haha

White Rabbit

Mookit you are not at all rude. Kirkoneill, there are a lot of IGA stores in BC. Also a lot of Safeways. About the Buddha Leaf teas – there are so many wonderful teas out there, we should all be drinking them and not these ones. We are probably paying more money for the fancy packaging than we are for the actual tea!

Kirkoneill1988

@White Rabbit, that’s weird and interesting. i had no clue there were still IGA stores in Canada

Mookit

Haha, true that! Life is too short to waste time drinking mediocre teas. :P

I am drinking my third cup of this tisane as I write. It does not have a whole lot of flavor, but it’s relatively OK for before bed. I chose it because I wanted something herbal, witthout caffeine and I was in the mood to try something different.
I purchased this one in a local Chinese market. When I bought it, I thought that it was loose leaf but after opening it I realized that it is actually a powder. The outer package has 12 small packets. Each contains a finely ground powder.
Each packet has enough of the powder to make a regular teapot full of the tisane.
I prepared it the same way that I would a normal pot of tea.
The taste…well, it really doesn’t taste much at all. When I bought it I thought that it would taste like decent chrysanthemum tea. While there is a faint chrysanthemum fragrance and taste, it is not enough to attract my interest.

drank Organic Black Tea by T&T
8 tasting notes

This morning’s breakfast tea. It’s the first time I have ever had this black loose leaf tea from T & T. I like the fact that it’s organic. Aroma: lovely, clean and uncomplicated.
There is absolutely no bitterness. I drink it without wanting to add anything at all. This tea is quite good, even though it was not expensive.

This is, of course, one of White Rabbit’s favorite teas. After all, ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
I think that says it all.

Flavors: Berry, Cherry, Eucalyptus, Malt

Red Zinger. I have been faithfully drinking Celestial Seasonings Red Zinger since the early 1970’s. I’d be quite upset if they ever stop making it and I’ve noticed that it is becoming more and more difficult to find. Most of the grocery stores used to carry it but now I can find it in only a handful of places.
For the past seven or eight years the only way I have made Red Zinger is as an iced tea. I usually had a pitcher of it in the refrigerator so my grandchildren would have something cold and nutritious to drink. It never hurt that it was also inexpensive.
My method for making this iced tea is simple. I boil a 2 quart pot of water on the stove. After it reaches a boil I pull the pot off the burner and let it cool slightly, less than a minute. Then I place 6 Red Zinger tea bags into the water and place the lid on the pan. I leave it like that until the tea reaches room temperature, then pour it into a pitcher and leave it in the refrigerator until it is cold. That’s all there is to it!
We drink it either with or without ice. Sometimes I’ll add lemon and a sweetener, but usually not.
In any event, this is what I am drinking at the moment. I love the hibiscus and the fruitiness of this tea; for me it is better than any of the similar teas on the market and I’ve probably tried them all.
There are also good memories attached to this tea. I drank it with my son when he was a small child, and now he is in his mid-forties and he still enjoys it. What could be better than that?

It is 7:00 pm and I was telling myself that it’s time for a cup of tea. Matcha seemed like the best idea and I do like this one. The manufacturer, Rishi, says that it should be brewed using 1 tbsp. per 8 ounces of tea but I like my tea to be strong, so I added a bit more than that. However, I may have overdone it because this time the tea tastes a tiny bit bitter and the last time I had it there was no bitterness at all.
I added a little stevia (being diabetic I don’t use sugar) and this made it better. There was a time when I would never have sweetened green tea, but I have changed. A lot of the old rules have gone out the window and I am a freer, happier person as a result.
Back to the Matcha Super Green. I can understand why they call it that because it IS very, very green and there is a super quality to it.
The bitterness was my fault and I love this tea.

Have you tried sweet matcha from red leaf tea? They sell great matcha!

I don’t own the buisness. But if you check them out at www.redleaftea.com I’m absolutely sure you will find something you love! Feel free to search my tasting notes of their teas. I love their starter matcha and almond matcha. I just yesterday ordered 8ounces of their sweet matcha, a sample of their cheese cake matcha, a sample of their delux matcha and a sample of their caramel (which I will give another chance) :) I’ll be looking forward to your reviews and hopefully, you, mine :)

White Rabbit

I just placed an order with Red Leaf Tea. Their oolong sampler package (I love oolong) and the starter matcha. Thanks for the suggestion. Looking forward to them!

Kirkoneill1988

i cannot promise you will like/love them, but its always a good thing to try things. but the starter matcha is good made into matvha smoothies and matcha pancakes. and to me is good in hot water too

It is morning and I just finished my first cup of tea for the day, Earl Grey by Taylors of Harrogate. A decent black China tea with a noticeable shot of bergamot. Out of the many Earl Grey teas out there, while this is not my absolute favorite it is one that I would probably purchase twice. I am drinking it from the beautiful Anne of Green Gables cup that my friend Bonnie brought back for me earlier this summer from Prince Edward Island. Does a beautiful cup, given with love by a friend make the tea taste better? In a way it does. At least it definitely adds a positive touch to the experience.

“The art of tea, whichever way you drink it, or whichever country you are from, has one underlining thread for all of us. It is the cultivation of yourself as you follow the ceremony of preparing your tea, the way in which you make your tea, how and where you drink it, and with whom. Making a cup of tea creates a space for just being.”
