1113 Tasting Notes
This is the first shincha to not leave a texture in my mouth which is interesting. The taste is smooth and the leaf look like boiled pine needles :p
The taste is great but it doesn’t have the level of fresh taste that I look for in a shincha. The 2015 Okinawa shinch might have just put all other shinchas at a disadvantage from now on.
Another samples from Equusfell
Okay, I shouldn’t have taken this samples because it has rose in it and that is a nasty taste in my mouth. However, this smells like an edible bath bomb so I decided I would give it a shot. This is actually a day trip to the spa in a cup. While I don’t like the taste completely, I am able to tell that this is a balanced blend that is smooth. Drinking this does make me calm because of the aroma :)
This cup makes me excited as I think about the oolongs I have from them that I have yet to try
Got a sample from Equusfell because it smelled very sweet (like skittles as it is said). I brewed this for 90seconds like I tend to do with most green teas and it came out smooth and tasty. The only problem with this tea is that it includes ingredients that I am not a fan of. The after taste is a bit dry as well, which may be from the flowers
I opened up a 10g sampler of this tea and was surprised by how many little needle dudes were in there.
This https://instagram.com/p/3XYJeaxYHr/ is only 3g!
The taste of this tea was quite smooth and very fresh. I don’t understand the aroma as it smells like salami… however, the taste is great. I just didn’t like warm meat aroma coming from my tea cup. I really want someone else to verify this because I am not joking the least bit. Regardless, I had a nice session of fresh green tea with this :)
The bad: I was drinking through my YUNOMI teas today and put them on hold after I smelled this.
The good: AllanK sent me this along with some shou in our swap.I have been really excited to start exploring more pu’erh as I begin to look at buying my first shou cake on my birthday (over 60 days away still). However the aroma of this one has put Japanese and pu’erh teas on hold. It is teas like this that are persuading me to stop trying lower end green, oolong, and white teas. The aroma of this tea makes me happy enough to not worry about the taste. I rate on flavor though and this has it. Honestly, no bitterness in a black tea… that makes me one happy drinker :)
This is something I will savor.
Woke up early so I decided to brew a darker oolong to accompany me as I read about airtight containers and the whole CO2 releasing of tea/coffee. David’s Tea is still a mystery to me… they have some great teas and then some that are awful. They easily beat out Teavana any day though. This provides a nice cup that is slightly dry.
This was the first tea I have steeped over 10 times. I reached 11 steeps with this guy. However, steeps alone does not equate to excellence. The first few brews were a bit rough and had a musky taste I wasn’t a fan with but I was able to tell that it was going to get brewed out and allow the silky texture to show its taste. The texture, aroma, and the taste remind me a lot of the pu’er I bought in Tokorozawa.

Sounds like a good tea base for a Winter Puer latte. I saw that you pair with chocolate…I also pair in the Fall with ginger cookie. Sometimes a musky edge falls off with a bit of raw sugar. We often experiment with how sugar can change Puer. (Brings out caramel, fruit or breadiness in some)
Larsen my forthright opinions on Puer if this is common knowledge to you already.
After I threw out that awful cup of oolong this morning I grabbed this because it sounded like a nice cup to drink while I eat donuts :)
While it taste nice, it is weak. I brewed this at 210f for 3 minutes and let it do its job in only 6 ounces of water so I could have one strong morning cup of tea, but it just doesn’t provide the umph I was looking for.
Talk about weird… I bought this because it had bamboo in it with no expectations of tasting good. I was partially right. The blend actually works, but I am not sure that I like the taste of bamboo :/
This defiantly taste better than it smells though which is good
