1113 Tasting Notes

I haven’t tried any cnnp stuff from YS until now….

Amazing dry storage. The bulang is the star here! Not sure if I pick up the nannou as it might be lesser amount of it blended in here.

After 2 separate sessions I have decided that I will pick up a cake when a sale happens. This is just a solid dry stored tea

After a sessions of raw puerh I reached for an oolong to be refreshing and I grabbed this… well, this is more like a black tea with some texture to it. It’s 1am and I’m half asleep, and probably shouldn’t be drinking tea, but this stuff is quite tasty and it gets bonus points for being from South Korea.

I think this will make for some awesome cold brew as well! Maybe that’s what I will do tomorrow… cold brew South Korean teas.

At this point I have tried this tea three different times in different brewing vessels. This was one of the teas that I took a gamble on trying because I know hidden gems are still out there in 2016/2017… but I have to say that the cost to find them is quite high (however it is fun)

This tea is apparently 20+ years old? I cannot confirm or deny that, what I can do is affirm that it does not taste like teas that old on an average basis from the multiple ones I have tried. The liquid from the brew is always a bright orange that looks as if it just changed from yellow recently. There’s a nice sweet hay smell that comes off from the tea when it is brewed, yet the taste does no follow. This is an easy drinking tea as if it was apple juice… but that doesn’t offer much of an experience.

More skepticism from me has been added to PuerhShop.com because this seems to be a normal occurrence with what they have; that isn’t to say they don’t have good teas, those ripe dragon eggs are wonderful, what I am saying is their claims on age or region don’t see to match up.

Maybe this tea is dead and needs to be brought to life, I’m not too sure though I know right now it’s like blahh

Verdict: Incredible thick, dark, and a taste that lingers for a good half hour.

Very enjoyable tea in which I would gladly trade 20g for others to try since it is a $100 cake.

Received a sample of this with my order so I went head and took it to work with me.
First time having a primarily green silver needle tea, let alone an older one than the current year.

I found this to have a balance between wheat and light tropical fruits that made it not only enjoyable for the morning but a great drink to sip at while I think of the two opposing taste. This is a higher quality leaf too as I found many pieces that were two needles from one stem… great stuff all the way around : )
Now I need to try some fresh silver needle from Hojo!

Wonderful texture to the liquid on this tea with a nice nutty taste within the vegetable notes that are primary. Not too sure what this even is… it’s caked, but it’s not really a pu’erh type of tea as its not bitter and brews up quite strong… fun session with more to be enjoyed.

Much better than the 2014 that I tried. Really juicy taste for quite a few steeps that make this a unique brew that I enjoy very much. Going to get more of this one for sure : )

Really unique taste as there is a hint of smoke in this somewhere within the dark stone fruit.

Really enjoy this stuff over yaobao varietal since there is this interesting fruity sweetness to the taste.

This tea is amazing.
I could stop with that remark, but since it’s Easter I sat down and drank this for hours while catching up on The Flash with my dad.

The smoke is still there, but it’s almost like a overpowering camphor at this point which is quite interesting. The taste lingers for awhile and the brews are incredibly dark. At 16 years old, it’s apparent it has been living a good life becoming something that is amazing.

Depth of smoky earth that has hints of spice that stick around for awhile. Highly recommend trying a sample if you get the chance, the brew is darker than when I brew my dianhongs which impresses me and the depth follows the color of the liquid as well.

Easter is coming up so I’m at my parents dog sitting until they get back, but since I had a 400 word essay for my MBA application due in a week I decided to grab a tea I wanted to hit me hard because 400 words is tiny.

This tea is pretty solid but after having the 2013… Naka is something that when it has some serious humid aging, after some airing out and dropping of levels of time becomes a gem. I got all of the CSH Nakas to see which one will age the best because aged Naka is just splendid. Seems like this one is a solid choice, but they all are… the 2013 is just 3x further down the road than the others. The quality of leaf is different between all four years though. This is true by a decent amount too as I broke all the cakes. I’ll have to take the dust of each and compare that now that I’m about out.

Really enjoyable tea without anything to complain about and at around $90 for a full cake of 357g… great potential to store away
