1113 Tasting Notes
WOW.
This is the first darker sheng that I have really enjoyed. The depth to this raw is quite strong, but it’s smooth at the same time. Easily brewing this over the normal time and temperature and it isn’t brewing bitter, just giving more strength to it. The hue is medium when most all of the sheng I enjoy are light and vegetable like, but this is more like old plant water with some small patches of astringency.
This was a surprise because I thought it would be just a normal sheng for drinking today, but I’m quite thankful for the depth that it had while being on the darker side to which I normally dislike. It’s pretty close to the 2014 You Le
This has been the best oolong from TS yet for me. I’m not even going to go read what it really is online because I don’t need to. The brew was very clean and bright from the first infusion. The taste has the mild roast with the slightest butter texture, but what made this amazing is it’s sweet nutty taste that is quite unique compared to others.
Smooth, tasting. and brews sweeter as you continue. A solid tea for sure.
I think that I still have the 2015 Spring by the way if you want any. I had a hard time with it because the minerals and vegetals were really strong for me.
Quite green as many ff are. Not as delicate as the others as it has more dryness to it. Nice bite with the sips. Leaf is really broken up. Not really leaving a strong impression as far as a ff Darjeeling goes, but maybe it wasn’t a good year because I haven’t heard much on them as of yet.
This morning I ate breakfast while I let this leaf do its thing as it breathed in life as it was just boiled dead/alive.
Ended up starting this session off and knew nothing about this leaf outside of the person who sent me it saying it was good. I decided to jus wing the brew not knowing anything about it because I’m trying not to buy anything new so I just go into tea with the hopes that it’ll not impress me enough to look into it… should have guessed that the person sending me 2016 Last Thoughts and Storytelling pt2 wouldn’t send anything mediocre.
This tea started out with a hue that was beautiful and I went into it as I said I would. After steep two I knew I was in trouble. This is some really good tea. I have become pickier as time has gone on so I say this with a lot of thought… This is in the top three spots for 2016 teas that I’ve had thus far and I don’t see it going anywhere. I put it right next to Tuhao by W2T.
Bitterleaf may only have 7 in stock so I suggest not buying it so I have a chance when my birthday rolls around; planning to buy the best three things I’ve had this year for new production and this falls into that category.
W2T blacks:
Wild Tree, wish it had more oomph to it because nothing stood out.
Zheng Shan spring 1, semi smoked with a nice round taste.
Zheng Shan spring 2, assam like astringency that made me not enjoy it.
Black Meizhan, tasted like your basic black tea.
I think I am finding that I prefer very specific black teas… and a small amount of them.
I thought about the same.
Throw me a link for that ebay item, I am gong to light them up. If it’s a Russian seller, I already know who…
It is a China seller.

That link is worth a good laugh.
At least I bought it on an auction way less than buying it outright.
Wow that seller has like 15 kinds of 1970s pu :^
