1113 Tasting Notes
This came in the quarterly and I’m just overflowing with tea so I went to send it to a friend until I saw it runs at $32 a package… that made me have to try it.
This is a wonderfully light roasted nutty tea with a full body. A treat indeed that makes me wish I had more :p
This is probably the second best I’ve had next to a winter one from 2011 for a competition. Absolutely a solid tea worth trying if you go to the shop to try it or have a chance to try it; I think it sold out? I know the 2006 raw I like did :/
Rasseru random shengs… random pu’erhs are not something to guess at but just make remarks, but I’m odd.
I have about a 1/50000 chance of getting these….
1) 2014 or 2015 wuliang?
sour mushroom raw
2) 2011 to 2014 Mengku?
smoked subpar leaf
Very subtle tea that doesn’t require much attention. Easy to sip away at, but nothing special. Doesn’t attack your stomach lining. Not as sweet as a fresh Bulang, but I tend to like younger teas to older ones though because I’m odd.
This one can brew for a while, but I suggest sipping it along with something else because I don’t find this to overtake any notes… maybe it’s just me, but I like to sip side by side.
Yesterday I declared the ‘no more buying tea’ act for myself… my electric bill was $190 for one month : (
Anyways, someone sent me some dahongpao from December’s monthly tea that W2T put out. This was somehow absolutely amazing. The medium roast fell off around the fourth steep and I promise you that what I’m saying is true, a little sweet fruit started to brew up. It was almost as if strawberry/kiwi had dried up and got swept away with the warm liquid. Quite an enjoyable cup.
blimey I didnt think of all the electricity! I use my thermos for ease of use but it must help
Thats a real stinger, $190 …
After breaking this tea up I had some broken leaf and dust to brew up so I went online to see what others thought… nothing.
Well, just went with it. 100ml to 7g of leaf and 90c
First of all, the cake is really loose which I like : )

What appeals to me is the lack of aroma and clean brew. The taste, smell, and feel is just… clean dry storage. Much different than your Taiwan stored pu’erh for sure. This is one that I put in the fridge after to brew the next day; pretty ugly looking dust in a bag :p
Very steady taste. Minor progression of taste. Reliable resteep. Low maintenance.
Dry cocoa with a hint of that dark chocolate bitter taste from the first bite.
A different type of taste than the higher grade stuff from Verdant. When it comes down to pairing: this is a tea to enjoy with something, while the Verdant tea is something to drink on its own.

Last years best blend they say… blend or not, I will still take some TAF : )
This had a good three steeps to get through the astringency, but the mouth feel and thickness of the tea lasted a good 12 steeps which is all I was able to get out of it because tea hasn’t been that great of a thing for me lately.
Drank this tea down and finished packing 34 sets : )
Sent all of those out and have been receiving paragraphs from people as they try to figure out their taste and where/how to buy pu’erh.
Considering that I am going to hit 200 beginner packages this year… this community has put power behind me to jumpstart a whole new customer basis for many vendors come 2017, just watch, together we have been doing something big for the online tea community :)
Wish this tea had the feels that TAF had though, it was easily one to sip and work with…. didn’t NAKA me out or make me turn upsidedown like a LBZ
I went into taking this tea very seriously.
100ml of water with 7g of leaf
What Rich said was absolutely correct which turned me off a lot. As someone who is specializing in aged oolong, this one is clearly damp/humid stored at one point which gives it some funk. Salted damp mushrooms that had a tant of old wood with moss. Not the unique and special treat I was looking for : (
Lance use to always giggle when I drank a Dong Ding, he called it “Ding Dong” because of the spelling, it was funny to him lol
