902 Tasting Notes
vanilla_bookworm sent me a couple bags of this to try out (thank you so much!!). Even with my stuffy nose (yup, I’m still sniffling), I can still clearly smell the roses. Reminds me of rosewater and my Aunt Della’s vanity…all that fancy old-fashioned jewelry and make-up containers. I haven’t thought of sitting there going through those bits and bobbles for years…if nothing else, I love this tea for that.
The taste isn’t all that different from then smell. Very rosy, and the white tea is still present, though rose is definitely the star of this show.
Preparation
Backlog from this morning:
I’ve been fighting “the crud” for a couple of days now…and I’m afraid it’s winning. Joy, Christmas Break and being sick.
When I opened this up, I was both disappointed and excited. Disappointed that it’s not new to me (I’ve got a pouch at home), but excited because it makes a great cup that’s soothing and will hopefully get me warmed up and feeling like myself again.
Just like I remember. And now to curl up with a blanket, my teapot, and the DVR (Dexter: last 3 episodes of the season!), and hope the sinus meeds kick in soon.
Preparation
I finished the last three episodes of Dexter today as well. Wow did they have a close call. I like seeing Julia Stills in this role. Can’t wait for the next season to start.
I hope you feel better! Give yourself a break, enjoy doing whatever you want to do, and get well QUICK! :)
Another blend from Rachel, by Rachel! Thank you so much for sending me so many great teas to try!
So…I was never a girly-girl growing up. I didn’t have tea parties, or play with dolls, or want to wear dresses. I pretty much just wanted to read books and dig for dinosaurs (and, yes, I did have an excavation going on at the playground across from my house…complete with markers to section off the different digs). Yes, I was a geek, and still am.
So the name of this ever so slightly grates on me, and reminds me of forced play dates with other girls my age who wanted me to wear pink and walk around in their mother’s heels for fun.
But the taste is really good, all strawberry and vanilla. The rooibos isn’t woodsy at all, which is really nice. I can definitely see serving this up to my pseudo-niece at her next “Fancy Nancy” party. But for now, I’ll just enjoy it whilst watching a show about the Mayan 2012 prophecies. Nagana had princesses, right?
Preparation
I wasn’t a girly girl either – but I wasn’t a tomboy. I hated dolls, liked to draw and read, and did have tea parties – with my dog! I thought the kids up my street were either silly or savages and didn’t like to play with any of them! My absolute best friend was my dog. I’m exactly the same way grown up, too! :)
Jaime, I galloped everywhere because I was horse crazy! I wore Dingo boots (remember those, or are you too young?) with maxi’s. But give me a china cup of something like Marco Polo and my pinkie goes right on up in the air! And yes, I am a total geek. I love science and was late getting out of the shower because I was figuring why the upside down shampoo bottle didn’t fall because of the shift in its center of gravity when I increassed the angle of the hypotenuse side by moving it further away from the right angle formed by the base of the shower niche and the wall….
Oh, and even though I was already a performing musician, I told everyone I wanted to be an archaeologist, so I am right there with you on that dig – sounds like fun! So you can be a bit of everything, and like all of it!
Haha, I was the same way when I was little! I used to LOVE dinosaurs and even had a dinosaur themed birthday party at least once. I remember searching for fossils on the rocks during recess sometimes… And one time I found a little one on this big rock. It was too heavy to move so I was really disappointed because I wanted to keep it, but it was really cool! Lol.
Another sample from Rachel!!
Glancing through the tasting notes, I can’t help but think I’m missing something. It tastes…like rooibos. Plain, un-flavored rooibos. If I really try, it’s kinda sweet…but still more like plain rooibos to me.
Preparation
I had the same problem and was shocked as well based on the tasting notes. I informed the company maybe something was wrong with this batch as a courtesy and was basically told my palate was off and perhaps I was wrong and I should take that into consideration. I replied that I did take into consideration but still felt I should say something. It wasn’t very happy with my interaction it was borderline aggressive. I normally never complain or say anything. Honestly, just wanted to help but I guess I should have kept my mouth shut. After all it could just be me.
I don’t think it was just you…cause this had no flavor to me at all. And they actually told you your palate was off? Wow. I have no other words for that.
She suggested on multiple occasions that I must have just not liked it and that there were no other complaints so nothing could be wrong and no one at her company mentioned anything off with it either. She did not and would not acknowledge that it could be something else. She did give me a credit so I can purchase something else which was nice but I didn’t ask for it. She seemed very defensive about the product and was convinced I was in the wrong.
Finishing up the teaser of this that I had gotten. I need spice to open my nose up and help clear my head (though I’m not sure how well it’s going to work against the decongestants). This one is so very nice. Just the right amount of spice on a background of vanilla smoothness.
Back to my blanket and the DVR!
Preparation
I’ve actually backlogged this on the same day!
Oh, Frank!! I’m so excited that this tea is included in the sampler!! I love bananas and peaches, and have been eyeing this one really hard!
I’m loving this one!! It’s full-on banana madness, with a side party of peach, and there’s still green tea, and it’s delicious. I bet it’d be awesome iced in the summer; I’m really enjoying it hot!
Second steep: 5 min, much more peach, and the same banana rungs taste. Yum!!!
Preparation
Finishing up the sample that I had of this. Wasn’t quite enough for a full pot, but it works really well regardless and is delicious. Hopefully it’ll keep me calm around the family this afternoon. Oh, sometimes the holidays aren’t worth the trouble. Perhaps I’ll go to a beach next year and avoid all of it!!
Preparation
So this was the tea of the day that I ended up spilling a goodly portion on the floor. Yup, little bits of rooibos everywhere. I had just enough for a pot, and have decided to go ahead and brew it up now since I haven’t had it yet.
So I love rooibos blends, and have been eyeing this tea for a while, but haven’t ordered it yet. I’ve been dedicating my tea budget to Frank’s limited edition teas, telling myself that this blend will still be there when I’m ready for it. That and the label makes me kinda snicker.
Cinnamon, apricots, rooibos. It’s lovely. I only brewed for 5 minutes, and while it has a solid fruity-spicy flavor, I think this is one I’d brew for 10 minutes to get a really full-bodied brew (will probably do a second steep). The apricot blends wonderfully with the rooibos (and I maintain that apricot was meant to be blended with rooibos), and the cinnamon is very gentle and slightly in the background (or else it ended up on my kitchen floor).
Nom! Definitely glad this one is permanent!!
Preparation
I see where you could be going with that! LOL – I had a somewhat stranger idea…pretty gross actually! But, I, too…have an ‘off’ sense of humor teeheeeeee
Well, I just changed the label, so I’m not sure which one you are talking about or what twisted image you could be seeing, but I’ll take your word for it.
