In my, admittedly very biased opinion, this is the best place in Lexington to come for a cup of tea and relaxation.
It’s family-owned and operated (well, a few friends of the family work there, too), and they do a fantastic job. Fresh scones are baked on-site daily, and they’re not the hard, dry scones either. These scones are fluffy and melt in your mouth, and come in flavors like White Chocolate Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, and even Ham & Cheese. There’s also a variety of locally-made pastries, and you can get sandwiches there, too.
The staff is amazingly helpful when it comes to tea selection. They have great recommendations, and are more than happy to let you sniff the tea before you decide. Pots are brewed with the right amount of tea, with the right temperature of water, and brought to your table with a timer so you’ll know when the tea is just right. Want a second steep? Just ask for more water.
Lisa (the owner) sells a range of over 50 Art of Tea varieties, as well as a small selection of teaware. You can drink a pot there, get a cup to-go, and buy loose-leaf teas by the ounce. I highly recommend coming in, sitting down, and enjoying the beautiful decor and atmosphere. And if you do come, make sure to tell them Jaime sent you. Yes, they’ll know who you’re talking about.
