My Oolong fix for today.

This tea reminds me so much of a Fancy Formosa Oolong (Oriental Beauty), from it’s appearance, to the color and scent of the liquor and even the flavor is quite reminiscent of an Oriental Beauty.

I am continually in awe of Norbu’s teas – always of such excellent quality and exceptional taste. This cup is another perfect example of this. Multiple infusions to follow!

This is probably my favorite “non-LiberTEAS” tea in my cupboard right now, if not my favorite, it’s absolutely in the top 2!

It is pure heaven in a tea cup… and a few years ago, if you were to tell me that I would someday say that about an “unflavored” green tea with a vegetative character – I would have told you that you were nuts!

But I sooooo love this tea. Buttery, vegetal, sweet … so good. Multiple infusions to follow!

I decided to give this tea another go, since last night my cup was a little too bitter for me. This time, I brewed it just 3 minutes, and this seems to be about right for this tea.

I don’t know what it is about Adagio’s black tea base – but, it certainly is unlike most Ceylon teas that I’ve encountered. It has a very dry astringency to it, and I can even detect a malty note and even the slightest smoky characteristic to it. It’s much more robust than a typical Ceylon.

I think that this tea would be much better if the black base wasn’t so strong – because it would allow for some of the more delicate tangerine notes to be tasted. As it is, I can taste the tangerine, but, only mere hints of it.

I like it ok, but it is not my favorite. I am currently working on my review of this tea for the Tea Review Blog.

I usually start my day with this tea, although this morning, I wanted a little spice to start my day so I started with the Chipotle Chai and Assam. I am now finishing up my cup of Breakfast Blend.

It’s a little weird to be writing a note about my own tea, especially since I’ve been drinking this same tea for about six years now. It is robust yet smooth and I love the bit of vanilla in this blend, it starts off very subtle and the flavor develops as you continue to drink your way down to mid-cup. Perfect with a little milk and honey.

I wrote a review for this tea for The Tea Review Blog about a week or so ago, although it’s not yet been published. I really like this Assam. It has a pleasant malty character, but it is quite different from other Assam teas in that it possesses a wine-like quality to it.

I usually prefer to drink this tea in the early evening with my dinner, however, I recently procured a bit of Chipotle Chai Spice from World Spice Merchants, and I was anxious to try some. The Chai spice does not come with tea, it is just a blend of spices that you can add to the tea of your choice, so I just happened to grab this Assam this morning.

The spice has a very bold kick to it – very spicy indeed! I added an ample dollop of honey and I heated and frothed my milk for the chai – this is better than any coffee shop could prepare for me! It has a hint of sweetness – almost a fruity sweetness – but it’s ever so delicate, a bit smoky, but not too much, and a lot spicy. This really packs a punch!

This is the tea that lead me to buy from Tea Guys, as I am on the lookout for an extraordinary grapefruit green tea.

I’m glad I did place this order – Tea Guys has prompt shipping and great teas too! I really like this tea, although I really think I’d like it better if it was just a green tea blend rather than a blend of black and green teas plus green yerba mate. It’s not quite what I was looking for… but I still like it.

It has a really nice citrus flavor – the grapefruit flavor is tart yet sweet. There is a little bitterness to it, but, it’s not a strong bitter – just a little bite that gives some added dimension to the cup.

This is one of my favorite green teas. I love the way rose and jasmine work together in a blend. The lemon myrtle is very light and does not impose upon the floral essences, and the laurel provides an interesting balance to the cup. It’s a very relaxing and restorative cup … just what I need after (starting) to clean my art studio (what a mess!)

I really like this tea – it is very good, especially given that it’s a bagged tea. The ginger is warm but not overly spicy, and there is a pleasant fruit note to it that gives it an agreeable balance. It is one that I look forward to serving iced too – it doesn’t lose its flavor as it cools.

A nice, soft citrus aroma. I think the next time I brew this tea, I will cut down on the steep time, as there is a bit of bitterness to the cup. Not an overpowering bitterness, but it’s there and does interfere a bit with the tangerine flavor, so I think I’ll wait to write my review of this tea a bit so that I can experiment with the brewing first.

I managed to get four very flavorful infusions out of these leaves. I probably could have extracted a fifth, but, the fourth infusion was a little weaker than the three previous, so I decided it was time to move on.

A most heavenly Oolong!
