April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “C” Tea
This one has a nice and authentic dark chocolate flavor. It has the bitterness and fruitiness that the darker chocolate bars have. I also get some of the booziness but unfortunately, my sample didn’t have any pieces of cherry in it. It’s also somewhat drying on the tongue. Something to note is that my cup did have quite an oil sheen to it on top and I know that bothers some people. It’s a nice chocolate tea and I bet it would be even better with the cherry. I just noticed that they recommend trying this tea with milk so I’ll do that next time.

April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “B” Tea
I picked this one out because I have another B tea planned for Superhero Day.
I have a tin of this to work my way through and have realized that I actually much prefer some of Harney’s other black teas to this one like Tower Of London for example.
Also on a sidenote, I ordered some mother’s day tea from them and it didn’t come with any samples. So I almost wonder if they aren’t sending free samples anymore.
Their website has been lacking in the sample sizes for so long I’ve given up ever ordering from them (because I refuse to buy 4oz. sizes)…
I emailed them a couple weeks ago about this and here was their response (it’s kind of long) -
Thank you for shopping with Harney & Sons! We are sorry that samples are largely unavailable at this time. Due to the pandemic we’ve had to reformat the factory to allow for social distancing and other safety measures, and as a result there is less production space and some of the more labor intensive products are no longer being manufactured at a large scale.
Our loose teas are all hand packed, and sadly we have had to focus production on larger sizes to make sure that they remain available and have not had the capacity to pack samples as well. I’m not sure when we’ll have all of the loose tea samples available again, if you sign up for the inventory alert on the flavors you are interested in we will let you know as soon as more are made.
Thanks for that info, Shae! Gives me hope that maybe in a year or two all the samplers will be back.
That’s good to hear I suspected it was a similar reason. I actually mean’t that I didn’t get any sachet samples in my order though.
They were also trying to put compostable sachets in place and the pandemic nixed that for the time being.
April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “A” Tea
I really love the idea of this challenge it’s a great way to work my way through my cupboard of teas. I chose this one since I’ve been holding on to the last teabag of it and I don’t really need to? I also wanted something caffeine-free tonight after finishing a paper for class. It’s just a really nice nighttime bagged tea.
