I made the last sample of this as a latte with a good amount of almond milk. It’s definitely suited more towards this prep which makes sense since it’s a take on Mayan hot chocolate.
As a kid I used to love going to spice shops and getting bulk flavored hot chocolate blends. One of those ones was a Mayan hot chocolate and I didn’t particularly love it given the darker chocolate used and spiciness from the chili. I think if I were to try it now I’d appreciate a less sweet hot cocoa offering a lot more than when I was younger.
Anyway, this tea-prepared latte style reminds me of Mayan hot chocolate but isn’t quite thick enough or rich enough in feel. The chili warms the back of your throat along with the cinnamon and dark cocoa. It makes a really lovely latte and probably would be closer to hot chocolate with milk or a different non-dairy milk. I prepared this with almond milk. This one was a no for me when I tried it plain or just with milk so latte prep is essential.

Preparation
Finally opened up my bag of this one that I’d been saving. It’s a year past its best by date but still tasted fresh. This is such a delicious strawberry vanilla green tea and really reminds me of a strawberry milkshake both in taste and creaminess all on its own. Perfect to drink in the springtime and the dry leaf is pretty as well with rose petals.
Preparation
I like the cold latte preparation of this one much better than when I tried it hot.
It really needed the latte portion of milk to soften the roasted notes of the hojicha. It’s still has a bit of a chalky finish but the flavor is delicious with the sweetness from the banana balancing out any bitterness. The low caffeine content makes it a nice earthier tasting night-time version of matcha.
Preparation
I ordered a cup of this tea to go at Tea Chai Te the other day and I should have bought an ounce of it to take home. I didn’t try the tea until I’d already left though unfortunately. The tea was a bit astringent towards the end of the cup but initially, it had a lovely juicy candy pear flavor. It was quite sweet on it’s own and reminded me a tad of the Stash pear tea bags I’ve bought before. I prefer this one over the stash as the base tea is smoother and the candied pear flavor brighter. I bet this tea would be great iced as well.
