558 Tasting Notes
On the 2nd day of Christmas..
Tea of the day from 52 Teas is Chai with Chocolate. I forgot how divine this tea is! I grabbed a gingerbread bagel and plain cream cheese at work to enjoy with this tea this evening. What a delicious pairing this was, the spices really showed themself in the blend with the molasses and gingery sweet bagel. I hope to enjoy a few more of these bagels with this tea as I will certainly be opening my 4oz tin I forgot I had this winter. Thanks for the reminder as to why I bought such a large amount of this tea! I can’t believe I went through this many cold days with out this chai, and I’ve had it all along!
Preparation
On the first day of Christmas Frank gave to me, Pina Colada Honeybush as the first tea.
I’m so excited about this sampler package! I opened my tea when I woke up at the ungodly hour of 3:30am to find out what kind it was. I was very happy to see this tea in the package. I haven’t had this in several months and am happy to be able to revisit it today, as my stash had run out.
This smells like a very fresh batch, as it smelled more strongly of rum than I remember, such a treat for the middle of December, especially when it is in the single digits in IL. I steeped this tea longer than recommended (10minutes) as I was doing too many household chores to remember my tea :( This tisane is still good at 10 minutes, but the woodsy rooibos flavors I don’t enjoy are much stronger when steeped at this amount of time. I’m glad I have a few more cups to enjoy.
I can’t wait to see what tea will be in tomorrow’s package!
Preparation
Last brew of the evening, and such a success it was. I guess bagged tea I could leave in the cup was the simplicity I needed tonight! I enjoy the green fresh flavor of this tea and the cardamom has a great aroma and taste. The black currant is quite nice too. Just the relaxing cup I needed before bed.
PS-I’m really having a hard time not peeking at the first tea of 52teas 12 days of Christmas. I can’t wait for Tuesday!
Tried this with t tsp coffee mate creamer and it tastes like creamy cinnamon water. :/ not having a good chai/spice tea night. If anyone would like some of this to try I have two ounces left. I’m just not getting much from it. Maybe I’ll mix with the Vanilla bean cheesecake chai.
Thought I’d be more sad to see this go, but the final pot was a bit meh. I even left the risqué to infuse while I drank the pot and it’s just not blowing my socks off. Enjoyable raspberry flavor, just missing anything extrodinairy. Another tea decupboarded tonight.
Decupboarding today with one final teapot. I will have to try more darjeelings as this one is so good! Thanks again to Jillian for the opportunity to try this winner.
Steeped this at 170 for 3 minutes and I am surprises at the lightness of the brew. It has a nice jasmine flavor to it as well as a flavorful oolong base. I can taste a little bit of the orange peel at the end of the sip if I try really hard. I will have to steep the next pot for longer or hotter. Thanks to Jacqueline I have a few more cups worth to play with. The more I try jasmine teas the more I enjoy them.
I stumbled upon this little treasure of a tea that Jaime sent me awhile back while cleaning out my tea cupboards. My does this smell like a bowl of fresh picked raspberries splashed with cream. The aroma alone from this little teabag is quite impressive. The taste is very full of raspberry flavor with just a hint of the tartness of fresh berries. The vanilla hits on the end of the sip and makes this a decadent treat. I will definitely be looking for more of this tea soon!
