drank Cherry Cola (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

Wow, interesting. I knew this was better cold than hot. I’ve hot brewed and then tossed in the fridge before. Last night I put 3 tsp of this tea and 3 tsp of cherry tisane (Wild Cherry – Teaopia) and 4 cups of water in the fridge to steep. I left it there for about 18 hours, and what I got is something between cream soda and cherry Kool-Aid. I think I overdid the cherry it’s almost drowned out the “cola” but I still get the “chemical” taste that makes it seem like soda. I can drink this, it’s not GREAT, but getting close to good.
I changed my rating from 1 to 36. I still think this is really nasty on it’s own, but I’m going to keep tweeking the cold brewing and see if I can find the right ratio.

I could never get this one to taste good. Hope you have better luck than I did

I’m a fan of genmaicha, and I had high hopes for this one based on all the rave reviews on here. I do like it, it is sweeter than straight genmaicha, but is it marshmallow? Almost, or at least that’s how I feel. I don’t think this is quite marshmallow enough for me. Or maybe it’s my uneducated palate that can’t quite pick it out. Either way, I’m happy to have tried it. Thanks JackieT for sending me this sample.

Thanks JackieT for sending me a sample of this.

I seem to be in the minority here. I really liked this. I think it does taste like blackberries. I don’t think it’s fake or candyish. It’s light it’s fruity. I think it’s everything a black fruit flavored teas should be.
I’m not sure this would have a permanent place in my cupboard, but I would drink it again if I ran across it.

OK I decided that I’ve had enough flavored black teas for today. So I pulled out this one from the box that JackieT sent me.
HHHmmmmmm what do I think… It’s strawberry, but I think of it more as red licorice candy than strawberry milkshake. I think that it is a little bit too sweet, candyish. I wish it were a little bit more tart. I like it, this is more of what I’m in the mood for.
Thanks Jackie for letting me try this.

Thanks JackieT for adding this to the swap box. Maybe I’m not in the mood for flavored black teas today. I seem to be striking out. This isn’t bad, it’s just ok. I get some apple, I get some peach, not really any cinnamon, and certainly no cobbler/crisp. I think I was looking for more sweet ooey gooey, bakery goodness and I just didn’t get that. I got more crisp apple, peach.

This too was in the wonderful swap box from JackieT. I know Jackie marked this as one of her favorites, but sorry, not for me. It’s too spicy. I’m generally ok with spice. Love spicy food, but this is overwhelmingly chili. I’m not sure that it’s too HOT, more like it’s too chili. I think I would like this better if they had just used cayenne rather than chili flavor. I just found that the chocolate was totally lost behind the chili.
Glad to have tried it, but it’s not for me.

Another tea from the swap box JackieT sent me. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this. I’m not usually into floral teas, so was quite relieved that this one was not overly rosy. I also didn’t really get much cherry, maybe a little fruity in the back, but wouldn’t be able to pinpoint cherry.
All in all a fun little chocolate tea.

Went digging into the swap box from JackieT again tonight, and pulled this out.
I’m not a huge raisin fan, but love oatmeal cookies. Shrug, why not, give it a try.
Hmmmm what do I think. It’s baked goods, I’m not sure I would have said oatmeal cookie, but it’s good. I like it. The cinnamon is not overpowering for me (as some others have suggested). I don’t think I like it as much as the grandma’s pumpkin pie I had last night, but not bad.
Glad to have tried it. Thanks Jackie.

Continuing with my pumpkin quest tonight, I dug further into the box that JackieT sent me and found this one. We have a winner!!!
This is hands down the best pumpkin tea I’ve found so far. It’s not in your face spicy but all the pumpkin pie spices are there, you can taste the pumpkin. This is really good.

Thanks Jackie, this is awesome. (Love the variety and being able to head to head compare teas like this).

C.S. Lewis – “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

I needed to update my profile. I joined Steepster 03Mar13. I am just amazed at how much my tastes have changed since then.
When I discovered loose leaf tea about a year and half ago, I didn’t know anything other than my local Davids and Teavana/Teaopia. Stumbling onto Steepster CHANGED EVERYTHING.
Hello, my name is Dex I’m a tea addict.
I’ve been through the “I need to try every single tea out there” phase. I really hope the worst of that has passed. I’ve learned enough to know that I only need to try HALF of all the teas out there. LOL
When I started this journey, I was all about the flavored rooibos and fruity tisanes. Don’t get me wrong there is still room for dessert (chocolate/caramel/nutty) Rooibos teas in my cupboard and I still do enjoy them, BUT I am quickly learning to appreciate the some of the straight teas of the world.
Big bold (but not icky)pu’erh is suddenly my favorite, followed by woody/roasted oolongs. I’m just starting to explore straight black teas, and have found some that I really like.
Generally speaking I’m not into greens at all, only like the occasional green oolong, and white teas are just too mild for my tastes (unless they are fruit flavored). I still enjoy really good fruit tisanes, but am now cold steeping them.
I don’t like floral/herbal blends, and mint anything is not on my preferred list.
I am still exploring new teas, adapting to my changing tastes, understanding more every day how little I really know about tea. Ultimately I would love to find approximately 50 teas that I just “can’t live without” and always have them in my cupboard. That might not be practical, but that what I’m searching for. It’s going to be a fun journey.

All in all, I love this site. I’ve met some wonderful people, and have gotten to try some amazing teas because of them. It really restores your faith in humanity when you get a note saying “oh by the way I sent you some tea”. Wonderful, generous, people here.
