From DAVIDsTEA

A sweet romance

We’re still searching for the secret to eternal bliss, but we’re pretty sure one cup of this blend will get you at least five minutes’ worth. It all starts with the very best leaves: a premium oolong from China’s Fujian Province called Huang Jin Gui. A popular wedding gift in China, Huang Jin Gui is prized for its pretty yellow colour and romantic floral scent. Here we bring out this special leaf’s orchid aroma with a touch of vanilla. The result? A perfectly balanced, subtle cup that’s equal parts rich, creamy and floral. Feeling blissful yet?

Ingredients: Huang Jin Gui Oolong from Anxi in Fujian Province, natural vanilla flavouring.

The most beautiful smelling and tasting vanilla tea in the world. Strong and gorgeous no matter how I make it. Just makes me so happy.
A subtle, delicately sweet, vanilla floral tea that I really enjoy cold or hot. Floral and vanilla are two of my favorite things, so this one is easy for me to love.

I just got a new David’s order in and couldn’t decide whether to try this or the Vanilla Bergamot first. The Steepster reviews talked me into this one. Here we go!

The tea itself smells really nice! Even better after they’ve been steeped a bit.

First sip, as usual, without sweetener: Huh. I like it. It’s a nice oolong with a very subtle vanilla flavor. Other reviews tell me it’ll get more vanilla-y as it cools. I’m interested.

I don’t think I’m putting sweetener in this. Oolongs and I have been getting along well sans sweetener lately, and I’m happy about it. One day I’ll get back to drinking all of my teas black. One day. Not today.

This tea has a strong, but fragrant smell, and a mild flavor. Was kind of soothing to drink. I found it had a relaxing feel about it

I thoroughly enjoy this tea. It can be re-steeped but the vanilla flavour isn’t nearly as delicious the second time around. Also makes a great latee

The vanilla flavour and aroma is awesome. Not too strong, not too light. Just right!

I decided to try this tea, because I have been experimenting with drinking oolong that has been placed directly in the cup. It really does take time for the leaves to expand.

This tea leaf was tightly rolled and on the green side, for an oolong. The leaves unfurled to 4/10’s of a davids tea cup. :)

I also recommend the Tie Kwan Yie tea, which they also sell.

You can reuse the leaves for multiple cups! I find it works up until a 4th steep. Really good floral flavor with a unique green vanilla.

I always wondered how sweet this would be. Now I know it tastes like a mega strong Vanilla Orchid Gui Fei. It’s pretty nice, but the roasted green profile of the gui fei makes the vanilla seem a little bit artificial. I do get the custard and cake thing.T hanks Evol!

Evol Ving Ness

Delighted that you are truly having fun with this! It makes me happy.

Fjellrev

Yeah, I unfortunately find the vanilla in their vanilla oolongs to stick out like a sore thumb with the artificial vibe it gives off.

Evol Ving Ness

Yeah, I had high hopes for this one, but the artificial bit was a bit much. I thought it was only me as this tea seems to have great reviews.

Fjellrev

I thought it was only me too haha.

This is my favourite tea! I love the vanilla flavor with floral notes. It smells amazing, and the smell seems to linger around the area pleasantly. I like to brew this when I have company because you can resteep it over and over and the flavour doest fade much, and the creamy texture is usually mild enough for even non-tea drinkers to enjoy. My favourite way to drink it is iced with cream though- I drink it this way whenever I am craving an iced latte but dont want the caffeine or sugar. The cooler it is, the creamier and the more vanilla you taste in my opinion.

This has been one of my favorite teas for years, and I stocked up on quite a bit when it was being discontinued. Seeing that it’s now back on the US website, I decided to enjoy a cup. Still as creamy and delicious as I remember. The perfect non-black vanilla tea, in my opinion.
