From Butiki Teas

Our Dinjoye Estate Assam originates from the Dinjoye Tea Estate in the Dibrugarh District of the Assam region in India. This tea utilizes the Clonal Assam varietal and is graded FTGFOP (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). Our second flush Assam is sweet with warm chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, and baked bread notes. This smooth tea is malty yet lacks astringency.

Ingredients: Indian Black Tea

Recommended Brew Time: 3 minutes 30 seconds
Recommended Amount: 1 teaspoon of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 212 F (boiling)

This is a surprise tea from TeaTiff – thank you so much.
Afternoon tea with cheese and crackers. This tea is delightful. Smooth, strong, malty and flavorful. I don’t pick stone fruits. It’s grape and some faint citrus in aftertaste. If it would be blind test I’d say its Darjeeling 2nd flush. So it’s not your typical heavy thick Assam which is fine with me. I really like to drink Assam without milk and sugar. This tea doesn’t require any additions.
Thanks again TeaTiff for giving me a chance to try this wonderful tea.

I’ve been immersing myself in Yunnans lately, trying to learn about their differences and commonalities, but my allergied-out taste-buds have been yearning for something STRONGER so they can really TASTE something. I reached into the tea cabinet and my hand went directly to this tea. Sigh……….. thank you taste buds. This is just what I needed! I adore good malt and baked bread notes, and this tea has both….along with some chocolate, sweet potato, a touch of raisin and we wee bit of stone fruit (that I find comes out best when having nilla wafers with this tea) Dinjoye Estate Assam has a nice intricate flavor profile without being too complicated. Assam, absence has made my heart grow fonder. I have missed you.

I drank a cup of this first thing this morning. As much as I love my Chinese teas, I need a cup of Assam from time to time too. :)

While I’ve had this tea on its own, today I’m drinking a DIY breakfast blend that uses 2/3 Butiki Dinjoye Estate Assam and 1/3 Butiki Organic Ceylon. It provides a malty sweetness and is overall simply refreshing. It is close to many English Breakfast blends I’ve had. I’d recommend giving the blend a try, but also highly recommend the Assam as a standalone (the Ceylon on the other hand is just not my speed, hence the blending…)

We use both of those teas in our Malty Irish Breakfast but also add the Khongea Golden Tippy Assam. I’m not a big fan of Ceylons as hot tea but if you enjoy iced tea, the Organic Ceylon is a great iced tea.

Ha, I thought it tasted like I was on to something. I’ll have to try the Irish Breakfast sometime. And that’s good to know the Ceylon makes good iced tea. I’m excited to try that. Thanks for the feedback.

I love our Malty Irish Breakfast in the morning though the previous Irish Breakfast that we did was great with a more bready feel. If you happen to have our Khongea Assam, let me know and I can message you the proportions we use and you can try making the Malty Irish Breakfast yourself. Ceylons make a great iced tea. That’s my favorite type of tea to make into iced tea but I just don’t like Ceylons that aren’t iced or used in a blend. Good luck with experimenting! :)
