Earl Grey Bravo

Oh, if only this tea tasted like it smells.

You open the bag, and get this lovely citrus smell along with what smells like just the right amount of bergamot.

Alas, what you smell doesn’t translate into what you taste.

This is a genuinely boring cup of Earl Grey. I’m not telling you it tastes bad. It doesn’t. There’s just nothing memorable about it. It lacks body as well.

My next trick with this will be to used it iced to mix with my lemonade. I don’t want it to go to waste and can’t imagine drinking it by itself.

Extremely fragrant tea. This can be either really good or really bad depending on the person. I like it every once in a white to ‘change waves’, but I have to admit I bought the smallest size after the sample and its been lasting for a little over a year now.

To be honest, I believe a cup of this tea is equal to putting a bar of soap into your mouth.

It may be a overstatement, but if you’re looking for a ‘real’ Earl Grey grab a tin of Twinings, or Rishi’s Supreme Earl Grey. I think many beginners on Earl Grey start out with this, from Adagio, believing it will deliver, and end up hating Earl Grey. Earl Grey Bravo to me, is much like a “Lady Grey”, which in my book, is suppose to be much more citrusy, and more floral than a normal Earl Grey, which is what Earl Grey Bravo is. If they would call it “Lady Grey Bravo”, I’d score this average, only cause I’m not a huge fan of Lady Greys to begin with.

If you want a Lady Grey from Adagio, grab this! (I guess).

If you do brew this, brew it like any black, five minutes, at boiling; if you find it too floral, I suggest cutting the amount of leaves, milk tends to help mellow out the citrus. It yeilds a very aromatic, lighter amber liquor.

I guess my lesson from this tea is that many tea drinkers don’t realize that Adagio’s reviews are somewhat unreliable because many Adagio customers JUST write reviews to gain discount codes.

The few Earl Greys that I’ve had I really liked and I was hoping the same would be true for this one as well. I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed one bit. It has a that nice citrus taste that I think Earl Grey should have but not over powering. This will be one that I definitely buy a bigger tin of.

I was so happy to get this and a couple other teas for Christmas, along with an electric kettle and Adagio’s adoooorable (but fragile) two-cup Petit Teapot. I had a week off of work and started making a pot of this every day and enjoying it with a splash of whole milk and a spoon of sugar (Splenda works quite well too). Every time I finished my first cup, I was always so glad that a second one was waiting for me! By the end of the week, instead of coffee, the smell of fresh EGB was what I associated with waking up. My daily coffee has been replaced!

The smell is amazing. If you’re not into strong smells, true, this is probably not the tea for you, but I adore it. When I got a sample of this, along with many others, my whole order smelled like bergamot on the outside. The inside clear plastic lid of the tin I received for Christmas was coated in tea leaves and oil. The definitely put a lot of flavor in this one!

I’m no good at determining what scent or taste notes a tea, but I definitely smelled honey in this one.

Earl Grey isn’t for everyone, but if you do like it, this is definitely one to try.

I can’t figure out why this smells like bubblegum to me. Both the dry leaves and the tea seem to. It doesn’t really taste like bubblegum at all though which is probably a good thing, unless you’re really looking forward to having some bubblegum flavored tea. I keep wondering what those little blue flowers are scattered around in so many Earl Greys I’ve seen. Do they even add any flavor or are they just there to look pretty?

Ah well, this is pretty solid and hard to mess up too badly, though I may have steeped it a little too long this time as the aftertaste was just a bit more bitter than usual.

The taste of this Earl Grey is not quite as stunning as its wonderful aroma, but it’s worth a sip nonetheless. I personally think it needs a slightly shorter brew time than recommended by Adagio, lest it get a little bitter.

My very first Earl Grey. I thought it was absolutely delightful. I’d like to find an even tastier one, if its out there!

I’ve been drinking this tea for a few years now. It takes a little bit of a song and dance to get the right steeping method (can have a harsh astringency if steeped a little too much or if the the temperature is not right).

Drinking this right now waiting on my German teacher to arrive so I can take my test I missed when I went home to be with my family. Still not sure on it. I need to spend an afternoon making multiple cups of this stuff and making it differently each time to see if i can find a way I like it….
