7 Tasting Notes
NO. Just no.
I love Earl Grey Bravo and I drink at least one cup of it every day. I love the strong citrus/bergamot scent and I love the flavor. I also like vanilla, so thought this might be worth a sample. Nope. The smell is very strong (which I like with EGB) and the vanilla/citrus combination just doesn’t work for me at all.
Plus, it tasted over-steeped even when following the recommended directions.
May be great for other people, but this was not the one for me.
Preparation
I love Earl Grey Bravo.
I love it I love it I love it. Just so we’re clear!
I was so happy to get this and a couple other teas for Christmas, along with an electric kettle and Adagio’s adoooorable (but fragile) two-cup Petit Teapot. I had a week off of work and started making a pot of this every day and enjoying it with a splash of whole milk and a spoon of sugar (Splenda works quite well too). Every time I finished my first cup, I was always so glad that a second one was waiting for me! By the end of the week, instead of coffee, the smell of fresh EGB was what I associated with waking up. My daily coffee has been replaced!
The smell is amazing. If you’re not into strong smells, true, this is probably not the tea for you, but I adore it. When I got a sample of this, along with many others, my whole order smelled like bergamot on the outside. The inside clear plastic lid of the tin I received for Christmas was coated in tea leaves and oil. The definitely put a lot of flavor in this one!
I’m no good at determining what scent or taste notes a tea, but I definitely smelled honey in this one.
Earl Grey isn’t for everyone, but if you do like it, this is definitely one to try.
Preparation
I got 1-4 oz. tin each of this and Earl Grey Bravo for Christmas and I absolutely burned through the Earl Grey and have moved on to Irish Breakfast. The only other time I had this tea before was at about 7 a.m. after staying up all night finishing a biochem paper before running off to turn it in and take the final exam. I made it about two times two strong, WAAAY over steeped it and didn’t add milk or sugar. It was awful, but MAN was I awake!
So now I drink this mostly at work , where I have a timer and some whole milk and either sugar or Splenda (I prefer sugar, but feel like I have to add 3 to a normal cup to taste it at all. If you like your hot tea sweet, Splenda is the way to go!). I enjoy it everyday and will for a long time or…or at least until my order of Earl Grey gets here!
Preparation
I’m very “eh” about this one. It is sweet on its own, but also quite sour, so I added some Splenda. That made it better, but it still wasn’t great. Maybe sugar would have worked better. It definitely smells and tastes like strawberries and is a wonderful red color. I would drink it maybe as a desert tea. Not bad, fruit teas may just not be the type for me :)
Preparation
This cup mostly smelled like peppermint with the Darjeeling as a very subtle undertone. The taste was almost all peppermint, but softer than peppermint tea by itself, beautifully balanced by the Darjeeling. I got distracted and let this cool for about 10 minutes before drinking it and then finished it in about 2 seconds without realizing it, so it must have been pretty good :)
Preparation
I absolutely adore this tea. I read a review that described it as incredibly smooth, and I think that’s the best way to describe it. It’s soft and almost silky and the contrast between the hot tea and fairly subtle peppermint is very nice. I don’t think it tastes medicinal as I’ve heard others do. Great evening tea or for when you’re sick.
I’d normally give more fault to the steeping suggestions, but not for blacks. I’m sorry it was such a disappointment, but it was nice to read a review on it:)
My tea tasted over-steeped and bitter too! And i followed the steeping suggestions to a tee. I wasn’t impressed with this tea at all.
