Popular Tasting Notes
Matcha green tea has always been one of my favorite teas to drink. Allow though it can get bitter, I love the taste. It’s very smooth when mixed well and has an light earthy taste on top of the bitterness, and then , for me, there is a hint of sweetness after drinking it.
This is a wonderful tea! I have a fondness for almost anything black currant and this tea does not disappoint! I wish they sold this in a caffeinated version, but the taste is still amazing. I added sweetener and cream. The currant flavor is not too astringent nor is it fake. I will by buying more of this one shortly.
Preparation
I really wanted to like this, I adore Sencha and I absolutely love peach, but this was a bit of a let down. I think I enjoyed the smell of this one more than the taste. It started out with a strong grassy smell and taste that I always associate with Sencha, but as it cooled off I found it very weak and off tasting. This didn’t have a strong peach taste to it, but it does taste slightly sweeter than any other Sencha that I’ve had.
Part of my problem could be that I am pretty sure what little bit I had of this was pretty old. This week I’ve been clearing out any tea that I have no idea where it came from. I also didn’t have any directions with it. I ended up using 1 heaping teaspoon to 8oz of water, but if I had more of this I would have gone with only 6oz.
Preparation
My boyfriend’s mum bought me this tea for christmas, I was a bit a hestitant on drinking it as I’m generally not a fan on herbal teas. This tea is not sweet regardless of how it’s described. Despite not being sweet the tea isn’t too gross for me but I doubt I’ll brew this tea as often as my other teas.
The smell of the tea isn’t appealing to me either, it kind of reminds me of the scent of chamomile, and if you know me, you would know I hate chamomile tea. So that was not a plus. I would recommend this to someone who likes herbal and floral teas, especially those who enjoy chamomile.
Flavors: Floral, Herbaceous, Herbs, Jasmine, Rose
New to tea, this is a favorite though. One of the best supermarket teas, easily available for around $4/box of bags. Would like to try the loose leaf, presumably more flavor. Prefer this to Tazo chai.
With milk and a little honey, makes a nice pseudo-latte. I usually have some of this around.
Preparation
Picked up a Zhena’s chai sampler cheap at Marshall’s. Not like I’m exactly running short on tea right now, but I have a hard time turning down more. This was the first one out of the four I decided to try. And well, the name’s a bit misleading. There’s no hazelnut flavor to it at all. It’s just chai. A very, very mild chai at that.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not terrible. I’ll use the other three bags (there’s four bags of each kind in the sampler), but it’s not something I’d buy more of if I wanted something hazelnut flavored. Or hell, even if I wanted chai; there are far better ones than this.
This tea is really hard to drink alone. Yes it’s very good for the body but I always have to mix it with something. This week it has been with a strong china black, with honey and milk. It’s not too bad when mixed expecially if I will get added benefits from the mix.
Oh, this one was delicious! Spicy and minty is a gooood combination, I think! I was totally sad to see my cup end – when I have room for another flavour of tea in my stash this one is definitely making the cut and is being included. I’m always on the lookout for greens that don’t cost a small fortune.
Strong strong vanilla aroma on opening the pouch. Those chunks of real vanilla bean are going strong. However, much less taste on the tongue in the tea. Need to try this with a little milk or kick to see if the fats or alcohol bring out more of the vanilla. The tea itself is standard Rishi black.
