When I open up the bag in which the tea shipped I can smell the bergamot and a touch of cream/vanilla. It smells promisingly yummy.

I made a cup of tea following the instructions provided by the vendor – 1 tsp of tea per 6oz water, a steep time of 4-5 minutes and water temperature of 205-212F. When I sniffed the steeped tea the bergamot was the primary aroma that tickled my nose. I did smell a hit of vanilla or cream as well.

Upon tasting I was disappointed. The bergamot flavor came through but not much else. It overwhelmed the flavor of the black tea and the cream/vanilla. In fact the flavor seemed almost faded, as though this tea had been sitting in the back of the cabinet for some time.

I really wanted to like this tea but I find myself disappointed by its lack of flavor and complexity. All I get from each sip is bergamot and not much else.

Incredibly complex full character. Full body, but avoids being overbitter. Strong earthy tones, and a very slightly sweet tone as well

A basic oolong with a slight flower taste.
I tried brewing it in a filter and without it : with one, the taste was completely absent, the leaf have to unfold completely.
Brewed at 90°C

Love the vanilla in it! Very good black tea. Very good start. Can’t wait to taste the other tea in my 24 days of tea of DAVIDs TEA.

Not my favorite of the Tulsi teas, but spicy and warm.

A very straight forward Chinese green tea. Bitter taste and of course without milk or sugar. Not bad for a straight drink, but doesn’t wash down well with a meal.

Second brewing – tried ten pearls per 6 fl oz and 3 minute steep time. Still very delicate, has almost a wine aroma.

What can I say? It’s Sleepytime. This was the first non-sweet tea I drank (at a friend’s house, served by her hippie mom) and it has stuck with me all these years. The chamomile and spearmint flavors are most pronounced, but like other people have said, it’s not so much the flavor, it’s the comfort-food aspect of it. If I really want tea to comfort me, this is what I go for. I actually have a box at home and a box at work—the only tea I do that with.
