Popular Tasting Notes
I drink this LS, and I’ve been drinking LS for many years. I would appreciate it if someone who considers this a “starter” Lapsang with mild smokiness, would suggest a different Lapsong Souchong to try. I find this one quite smoky, and I have tried many others. Thus I am very interested in suggestions since I like ‘smoky’ Lapsongs. By the way I know quite a few Londoners who drink LS with milk. I’ve tried it and it is quite good.
I never used to be a tea drinker, and I started on green tea. Then one day I opened my mailbox to find a 6-bag sample pack of Twinings teas – this was one of them. I loved it so much that I went straight out to the supermarket to buy 2 more bags.
I often have trouble getting to sleep at night, and find this tea calms me down a lot – I noticed I feel a lot less stressed and anxious when I drink it.
I leave the bag in so I can reuse it for 2-3 more mugs of tea.
Preparation
I enjoyed this, though I’d be curious to know the herbs in it. It was very fresh, which was expected as it is green tea, but the rose was very soft and muted. It definitely had elements of other flavors which also tasted very fresh to me, but I cannot place them. It is a very smooth and easy to drink tea, but not quite “wow” enough to be a big love for me.
Preparation
I got a sample of this because even though I did enjoy Rooibos, I found the flavor a bit dull and uninspiring. Well, when I first opened the container, I thought this sort of smelled a bit like tobacco with a hint of…a sickly sweet, almost spoiled smell maybe? A proper description of the smell eludes me. When brewed however, it mellows out with a very pleasant and sweet aroma and taste that only gets better the longer it’s steeped. I usually let it steep for at least 10 minutes.
Like Rooibos, this plant has an insane amount of supposed health benefits (via antioxidants, nutrients and more) and lacks the tannins oxalates and caffeine of tea.
Both Honeybush and Rooibos are 100% great for insomnia, relaxation and reducing anxiety, especially when combined with Lemongrass. The combo will knock me out in 10-15 minutes after the first cup, especially if I’m already laying down.
Preparation
Shaded Leaf has consistently been my go-to. Very soft, sweet, and grassy, it is the quintessential Gyokuro. Has gone down in quality over the years, likely due to the soil, but it still easily one of the best on the market. Very easy to get tea drunk on. Batch from 2013 was maybe one of the best teas I’ve ever had.
Flavors: Grass, Sweet
first off, i hate cinnamon. I almost always pass on chai, because the cinnamon is too overpowering for me. However, I was willing to take a shot. Once I opened the packet, I noticed that the teabag was a little damp- because of the orange oil! The scent of cinnamon was there, but the orange was equally matched. It was a perfect balance. I wouldn’t buy this again, but it was a nice experience.
