Popular Tasting Notes
This tea is a great value. It is very rich and full-bodied, but also very dusty. The dust gives it a smoky, slightly astringent flavor that I haven’t encountered in puer before. If you are not a fan of this flavor, rinsing the tea before steeping diminishes the dust problem.
Preparation
Roses. So much roses. I don’t really like the smell of rose much, so I wasn’t really sure how much I would like this one. Turned out it wasn’t too bad, at least, once I started drinking it and doing other things I didn’t find myself hating it, and I did drink the whole pot. But I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this again once I finish the sampler.
Supposedly there were other flavors blended, but while it did seem to mute the rose to a tolerable level for me, I wasn’t able to pick out anything distinct. But I’m definitely biased on this one.

I’ve enjoyed this tea quite as bit as I’ve sampled it. Interesting, I’ve found it has different flavors different times I’ve tried it. This is more likely to do with my mood or setting than anything else, but my best experiences have brought out sweet, fruity strawberry notes. Overall, the flavor profile of this tea is similar to that of a black tea, with its relatively high oxidation levels, but does not have the same malty “blackness” of a black tea. I’ve also found hints of a roasted flavor here, but I was brewing in a vessel I’d just brewed a roasted tea in.
Overall, quite a tasty tea! I don’t know if I can say anything toward the health benefits of it being a GABA tea, but it is quite tasty.
Smells really fresh in the packet. Robust, yet smooth mouthfeel. I kind of get notes that remind me of whole wheat toast, but there is something else going on I cant quite place. Now that it is cooling down I’m getting some roasted nut like notes as well. Really good for iced tea, would buy it again for this purpose.
Preparation
Wow, this has to be one of the most awful teas I’ve ever tasted. I dumped the pot down the drain after one sip and threw away the rest of the tea.
You know how closely linked taste and smell are…and how something can taste like a odor? Well, this tea reminded me of the smell of the of the room in the barn where milk, fresh from the cow, was poured into the milk/cream separator. I’m talking 50-60 years ago, but that tea brought me right back. There was this pungent odor of barn smells and old straw that had milk spilled on it and had by then gone somewhat rancid. I don’t quite know how to describe it…but that’s what the taste of this tea reminded me of…strongly. It was awful.
