658 Tasting Notes
I’ve been a bit scared to break into my Tea Forte sampler (thanks Tea Forte!) for all the reviews I’ve been seeing. This one in particular scared me because I’m not into ginger. But, I’m thinking my stand on ginger may be softening or I like it with the right flavours, because this isn’t bad. It was my first sample since I’ve been coming down with a summer cold (I managed not to get sick all winter but now, in August?)
I don’t think I’d purchase this, though maybe just to have on hand for when I want a ginger tea (i.e. when sick; ginger seems to work incredibly well for me). Anyway, this is definitely bitingly gingery. My tongue is tingling. And I can see what others mean when they liken it to cleaner or medicine. And yet I think if I happened to be in the mood for ginger (rare), this is a pretty decent option. I am really liking the tart-and-sweet fruity hint in the aftertaste. So, definitely not a favourite but I think it does what it does pretty well.
I don’t know why I fall for such novelty teas so often. Well, in this case, I’d bought some sort of online deal that got me a bunch of tea for very little. But, I always end up disappointed.
This turned out to be a thin Ceylon with some mild caramel taste and, for some reason, a lot of floral coming through. I don’t know where that was coming from. I added some cream because it felt so thin and unsatisfying and drank it quickly on my way to work. So, it’s definitely drinkable but not something I’m going to want often or more of. Oh well.
I had this iced from the store, so it’s not the best way to judge it. But, I found it rather tart and not very convincingly pomegranate. I don’t know. I kept thinking cherry instead of pomegranate, and I don’t like cherry flavours.
Anyway, this is kind of a shameful waste of silver needles as I couldn’t taste any of that under the overbearing whatever flavours. It was drinkable, but it felt like I had bought a bottle of some kind of hyper-processed juice, not tea!
I really enjoyed this one but I agree that you really don’t get alot of the actual tea. More the fruit. And mine was sweet with only a little tartness to it. Strange how everyone’s cup is different from a different store.
So strange! I should really give it a chance brewed under better conditions, because I’d love a tasty pomegranate tea.
