I was opening the deep drawer where I keep most of my teas, wondering what to have tonight, when I caught sight of my DAVIDs Tea calendar. You know, I have plenty of tea left in there, and I should drink it up. I opened the little drawers at random. No, not that one. No, I didn’t rally care for this one. I’m not in the mood for that one. What about…?

I finally settled on this one, forgetting the yerba mate. I hope it won’t keep me awake. I actually like the flavor more this time around. Still a bit artificial, but nice.

This was my morning break cup. I really enjoy a good spice tea. This one is one of the best. A really nice balance of spices. I hear Tea Source doesn’t have this one anymore. That makes me sad. Should I hoard the 20 grams I have left? Or drink it down before it gets too old? These are the troubling decisions that face a fervent tea drinker.

Sip Down. I’ve ordered a few dessserty teas this pat month so I need to make room and sip down a few.

That is the end of this one :( I don’t think it is quite as good as Golden Orchid, but darned close. I had been hoarding it, but it’s been a while, and tea doesn’t stay fresh forever. I shall miss you, Not So Vanilla! Your smooth mouthfeel, your luscious flavor, your soothing warmth in my cup. sob

This is the second of the teas I received today from A Quarter To Tea. I believe it was Roswell Strange who had written a note on it and made me decide to order some myself.

Thank you, Ms. Strange!

The old sniffer isn’t working very well tonight, but I by golly swear I could feel the warmth of brandy on back of my throat. This tea (should I call it tea when it is rooibos?) is very smooth, a bit sweet all on it’s own, and totally delightful. I’ve been having such fun drinking my flavored teas lately that my old standbys like North Winds are being neglected. But it’s nearly bedtime, so I don’t want caffeine. The flavored rooibos and honeybush parade will continue.

I’m not sure what to think of this one. It is pleasant. The mint is certainly present, but not toothpaste-y, if you know what I mean. For me the chocolate was missing. Which is strange, because I know I saw the chocolate in the leaf when i put it in the T sac. I still have plenty of it left, so we’ll see what the next cup is like. I am giving this a tentative rating of 75. May possibly go up after another trial

I’ve been drinking this one frequently in an effort to sip it down. It’s a nice tea, warm and lightly spicy. I feel that it lacks the depth that I get with other teas. But a friend gave it to me and I want to be able to tell her that I enjoyed it and finished it.

Hopefully, she won’t be back with another bag of it. :)

I hope not! But it really isn’t a bad tea. I think I’ve gotten spoiled by Whispering Pines, 52 Teas and a Quarter To Tea. At the moment, those are my favorite tea companies.

And for good reason.

Duty teas. We’ve all been there :)

I love, love, LOVE this tea! I actually have a slight bit of a sense of smell right now, and this one really smells marvelous. Tastes great too. I had a square of dark chocolate orange from Lindt with this cup and the experience was heavenly.

I’m gonna be so sad when my stash of this is gone!

I had this one yesterday in the early afternoon. I think it was even better than the first time I had it so I’m boosting my rating a bit. The name really is perfect. The smoke made it easy to imagine I was snuggled up in a chair in front of a fireplace. More snow, more cold weather over the next few days, so more tea drinking ahead.

Sad sip down. I finished this one off. It was a warm, lightly spicy confection of a dessert tea. I was going to say it’s been unseasonably cold, but that isn’t true. It’s January in North Dakota. It is not unseasonable to not get above zero for 5 days straight. We did get to -1 this afternoon. Tomorrow is expected to be 4 above. But that’s what they said about Friday and today, so I’m not holding my breath. Good day to stay in and drink tea and knit.

North Dakota sounds cold. brrr. Wicked cold here too. So cold that I expect snow to coming shortly to warm things up. Those cold cold ones are lovely tea days. It is such a luxury to indulge oneself by staying in with numerous cups of tea.

This one sounds really good.

It’s a cold one today. It hasn’t been above 0 F since Tuesday around 1 am. Tomorrow it should get up to 4. Above! You know what that means? Yep, many, many cups of warm comforting tea!

This is the last of the teas from my recent 52Teas order (although I have a very generous free sample that I think I’ll try tomorrow.) The spices were cozy and warm, not in-your-face. You know how sometimes cinnamon can give you an odd feeling on your tongue, like it’s drying out? I don’t get anything like that here. The berry is slightly tangy, slightly sweet. I don’t care for bergamot, and I must not have red the description very well before ordering this, because it has bergamot. It’s not too strong, not enough to ruin the tea for me, although I think i would like it better with straight orange or lime. However, if you do like bergamot, that might be the bit that tips this tea into favorite territory. For me, this is a nice, sweet fruity/spice tea that is very warming on a cold day.

Cinnamon can make it or break it for me, but it really does depend on the kind of cinnamon. I am a bit wishy-washy with bergamot. I love the scent, but in tea, sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn’t. I am looking forward to seeing what 52Teas has done with this one.

I love cats. I love alone time. I love sitting indoors on a cold winter night with a book or my knitting while drinking tea. I don’t have a sense of smell, so many of the more subtle flavors of tea escape me. Two of the things I CAN taste are bitter and sour, so any tea that has even a slightly bitter taste is nasty for me. And what others might perceive as pleasant tartness may be horribly sour for me.

I’m also a writer. I love writing, and a mug of hot tea helps me get through the hours sitting in front of the computer. Although I’m a comparatively new tea drinker, I’m jumping in feet first. Feel free to recommend any teas you think I might enjoy.

100-91 – Wowza! I want to keep this tea in the cupboard all the time.
75-90 – Very nice. It would be good to have this tea on hand from time to time.
60-74 – OK. Wouldn’t keep it in the cupboard, but I would drink it again.
45-59 – If a friend served this I would drink it to be polite, but it’s not really my cuppa.
Lower than 45 – Blech. It was too sour or bitter for my taste. Would not drink it again.
