768 Tasting Notes
A very nice, smooth tea. I decided to try another of my new teas tonight (I really need to drink some down though!) I enjoyed this one. The smoke flavor wasn’t very strong to me. Possibly because my sense of smell is gone. But it was present, and I liked the tea. As I said, the tea goes down smoothly with no acidity or bitterness. I think I’ll enjoy this one. Glad I got it.
Preparation
Dang it all, I’ve caught my brother’s cold. Stuffy nose, stuffy ears, scratchy throat. Ick ick ick.
This tea isn’t a cure, but it tastes good and makes me think I feel better. I’ve had several “cold” teas and of them all this one is the best hands down. I’m going to sit up in bed with my knitting and a pot of this.
Yarn weather has returned here, too. Last night, I was crocheting a scarf for our Operation Christmas Child box, but got distracted watching Minnie (cat)intently watch me. Long dangly things are not safe around her, but she was exercising a great deal of self-control.
Everything is a cat toy when you are a cat. Especially elastic bands and socks (sometimes still on your feet). Also pencils and things on the mantle are apparently the greatest toy ever at 3am while everyone is trying to sleep.
Tonight I decided to go through my tea box to see what was really low, like a sip down. Came across this one and remembered that I enjoyed it. I do tend to enjoy creamy, buttery, toffee-like teas. This one was aging so had lost some of its flavor (or I had lost some of my sense of taste) and I may have over leafed it in my intent to finish it off. So it was a little bitter at the end of the sip, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment.
Had this one this evening while trying to write. It had a nice flavor. Light and fruity and not too sweet. I mean, not that cloying stevia sweetness. I think this is my favorite so far of the summer David’s teas I was gifted over the September long weekend.

I have recently realized that any of those black teas with any gold in the leaves at all should be enjoyed fairly fresh. I feel like golden black teas lose a TON of flavor as it ages, probably more than any other type of tea. That gold goes from very complex tasting to very flat. (I’m not saying this will happen with this tea, but most gold teas I’ve had do this.)
It’s rather chilly here, so after I had my one cup of coffee this morning I decided to have some hot tea. I told myself that I should drink something that was already open, but I’ve3 been wanting to try this one since it arrived a few weeks ago. I’ve never really liked smoky teas until I tried a couple from 52Teas.
The smoke here seems a bit lighter. That may be because I don’t have my sense of smell right now. It’s a very nice tea I won’t have any trouble finishing the ounce I got. But I think I like my smoky teas with additional flavoring.
I am moving October 27. I have spoken to my brother multiple times about going off on his mini vacations. He hasn’t been home 5 days in a row since last April. He doesn’t care, so I signed my lease on Friday. I will be home with Mom one evening evening a week, and for a 4 hour block on either Saturday or Sunday.
I am so much looking forward to being on my own again. Right now making tea is a chore.
Preparation
Thank you. My mom was an RN at a nursing home for many many years. One of her old co workers is retiring Dec 7 and she will be coming over during the day three days a week to look after mom. I still feel a little guilty. But I can;t wait to sleep through a night. And drink tea, of course! ;)
Another of the fruit infusions gifted me by my friend Karen from St Norbert MB. This was sweet. Slightly artificially sweet but not bad. Even with my lack of taste, this one was citrusy. It also had a bit of a sour note at the end of the sip. I made one cup warm, and then made a second cup and poured it over ice. I have to say, as an iced tea it was better. Light, zingy, refreshing. It makes me wonder if these aren’t meant to be drunk iced.Duh. Now that I’ve discovered that I wish I had more so I could try it again.
This is the second of my summer fruit infusion teas. I’m a sucker for Peach teas. I once had peach ginger tea from a teeny little shop in Minneapolis, and it was on day that I could smell and taste and it was divine. I loved that tea! But most peach teas miss the mark for me, which this one did. I kinda like it, but I don’t love it. As with most fruit infusions, this one is pale in color when brewed. The flavor was sweet and a little zingy. There was a definite aftertaste which I didn’t enjoy. I have no sense of smell right now so the flavor was simply missing for me but I suspect this one probably tastes a bit artificial. Still, I drank the whole cup and think I’ll drink the rest of the 25 grams. Maybe I’llo like it better iced.
Preparation
I just got back from the September long. I went camping up on Lake Winnipeg outside Gimli in Manitoba. I think this may be the first time I’ve sailed through the border both ways! This trip was balm to my soul. It was so nice to just lay around and chat with friends. One of them, a very dear woman that I see far too infrequently, gifted me with handmade cat toys and tea. She bought several of the Summer Refreshing Teas packs, which have 5 tins of fruit infusions.
I made this one tonight and have been sipping it while playing around on the internet. (I really MISSED having access over the long weekend, but I think it was good for me). This one is a little strange to me. It is sweet. Almost too sweet, but I don’t think it’s that Stevia sweetness.. On the other hand, the hibiscus has a zing to it. I have never liked hibiscus. So for me, this one is a miss, but it is tolerable. I may try it iced and see if I like it better that way.,
