drank Cocomama Lime by DAVIDsTEA
73 tasting notes

I was happy to get a sample tin of this one, because I wouldn’t have bought it without smelling or trying it first.
You can see lots of lime peel and coconut shreds, plus it smells intensely sweet and limey, dry. I steeped the whole sample (1 and 1/4 davids perfect teaspoon-ful) for 6 minutes, and the lime smell got mellower, but it still very present. I took a sip, and was surprised. It tasted like lime with black tea, and kind of bitter (I steeped it for the longest time suggested, and used less water since I’ll be adding icecubes to cool it down).
It was really decent though! Love how the black tea was present almost as much as the lime. (No coconut yet though…)
It definitely needed sugar though, so I added almost 2 tsps! (I like my iced tea much sweeter than if it was hot.)
Anyways let it cool down completely in the freezer for a bit, and now it tastes quite nice. Just like a good iced tea spiked with lime. Definitely not much coconut though, if any.
If you enjoy lime in your drinks, this is a tea for you. I don’t always care for it, but have to admit that this is another job pretty well done from Davids tea!

drank Forest Berries by Joy's Teaspoon

Thanks Joy’s Teaspoon, for the lovely samples! As far as the scent goes, I’m glad I chose this one. The mix of ingredients is definitely intriguing me (apple, blackcurrant, orange peel, etc…)and my cup’s too hot right now but I’m betting this is going to taste good.
Added a touch of honey and let this steep about 8 minutes. First of all it smells like berries (of course!). The blackcurrant is there for sure, but that and the other things in this tea also remind me of blueberries or blackberries, mixed the way they are. I think I can taste the apple on it’s own a bit too.
Underneath the fruitiness, it tastes floral, and the flavours are all mingling in a mild, pleasant way. All in all, this tea is tasting pretty nice!
I would drink this again for sure, especially on a spring day like this (20 degrees, in april, in ontario!!!! so awesome despite the storms we’ve had). It seems like this would be amazing iced, so maybe I will do that with the rest of my sample.

drank Creamy Nut Oolong by Teaopia

This tea steeps well several times too! I have only done it twice but am sure you could do more. Just doubled the time I had steeped this the first time, and it might have tasted even better the second time around.

drank Creamy Nut Oolong by Teaopia

I really really reallyyy like this.
I’ve never had Teaopia until yesterday (although it’s much closer to home for me than my new obsession, Davids). And oolongs are new for me as well, but this sounded so tempting. It also smelled great in the tin, and I could see almond slivers, caramel pieces(!!!) and the flowers.
(I like how Teaopia is set up – all of the teas are on some kind of lazy susan deal in the middle of the shop, so you can look at and smell whatever you like, without HAVING to talk to the employees before buying something. Davids is cool but sometimes I like to just browse on my own.)
Anyways, like I said the smell is delicious. Very nutty, and sweet at the end. I want to say it’s like vanilla, but then decide it’s more caramel…but that isn’t it either! So it’s got to be the creamy part I’m getting.
I brewed this for 3 minutes, added a pinch of sugar, and the taste is just like I imagined! So good.
In a way it reminds me of Toasted Walnut from Davids Tea – I fell in LOVE with that tea when I got a sample of it, and haven’t been able to get any since but crave it all the time. Now that I have this though, the cravings won’t be so bad :)

*I noticed this tea has apple pieces in it – I can’t distinguish them from the almond really, and don’t notice any distinct apple flavour (which doesn’t change my opinion of this tea one way or the other, just something I noticed). It also seems that alot of Teaopia’s flavoured teas have apple pieces in them…just kinda interesting to me.

Interesting…my Teaopias have them behind the counter just like Davids.

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Ok, I played around a bit more with this one, and now it’s tasting like I think it should. I used about half the amount of dry leaves as my last two cups (1/2 to 3/4 of a ‘perfect teaspoon’ful). Let it steep four minutes, and voila – that earthy vegetable taste is perfected. I can taste the ‘pumpkin’ flavour still but it’s less overpowering. The spices are now alot less apparent though, (but I could always just add a dash of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon, ginger, etc).
It seems like I prefer to brew some teas a bit weaker than suggested, and this is definitely one of those (although some I like to steep as long as possible, like Buttered Rum).

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

So excited to try this! I love squash and pumpkin pie, and autumn is kinda my favourite season, so I was dying to get one of these cute little tins of Pumpkin Chai. I have to mention that I wouldn’t have this tea right now if it were not for the excellent customer service at Davids. I had an issue with another tea I bought so they offered to get me another tea instead, and luckily there was still some of this left!
I made a cup yesterday, with a little brown sugar and lots of cold milk. Let it steep about 3 minutes, and it smelled wonderful. My bf (who hates tea but has said “mmm!” to almost every tin of Davids I’ve shoved under his nose :P) said that it smelled just like pumpkin pie.
With just a bit of sugar and some plain milk, the spices come through in a really nice way. It warms the back of my throat but isn’t too overpowering. The pumpkin is definitely there but I don’t know if I’m liking it that much…it’s hard to describe the flavour it’s giving me. It’s not terrible, but a bit too strong I think.
Now I’m drinking a homemade ‘latte’ and it’s treating me much better :) I brewed a heaping spoonful of the tea in a small cup of water for 4 minutes. I also added a bit more sugar, almost a tsp. Then I brewed a tassimo latte disc into the tea (lazy but I had to try it!). Plus a dash of pumpkin pie spice on top.
The results….are not bad! I definitely enjoy the pumpkin taste a bit more, now that it’s muted a bit. And the spices are still shining through (with some help from my garnish).
All in all, I am so glad I finally got to try this!! Next time I’m gonna use even more sugar though and see what happens. It may not be a favourite, but it is interesting and worth a try.

This is definitely one of my favourite teas now! I find that the less I add to it, the better it is. Just a pinch of brown sugar and few drops of milk makes it JUST right and brings out that creamy, butteryness that others have mentioned here – simply delish.
