73 Tasting Notes
This wasn’t a favourite for me – I wanted to try it because I really like mango but after checking the ingredients list and not actually seeing much mango there I was wary. Should have trusted my instincts!!!
In the bag, this tea does smell softly fruity and kinda nice, but it’s more like bubblegum than mango to me. After steeping it hot a few times and using different water temps/amounts of tea/etc, it just always smelled kind of like it’s gone bad.
I’ve tried steeping it with room temp water, cool water, steeping for less than a minute up to the recommended steeping times, pretty much everything I could think of! But it just doesn’t work for me. That said, I still recommend others to try it out if it’s something they think they’d be into. For the price, you do get a fair amount of tea, although there are lots of big orange slices, etc in there too.
Preparation
Glad they brought this back! I experimented today – about 1/3 of the ‘perfect tsp’ of this, with about the same (a bit less) Oh Canada, steeped for 3 to 4 minutes. I added a bit of maple sugar and some 10% cream – something I never ever do! I tried cream in my tea a long time ago and hated it, but recently read someone else’s recommendation to add some to this tea and it honestly works. It’s just like a warm piece of pumpkin pie with some fresh whipped cream on top, and the Oh Canada kind of balances the pumpkin more, plus gives it a tiny hint of maple!!
Tried this for the first time last night, after letting it chill a few hours. I love the dry smell, lots of those good summer berries there (the blueberry, strawberry and raspberry) but the currants stand out especially, and it’s beautiful.
Iced with a bit of honey this is perfect. The berries and lemon verbena are a bit tart and zingy but also light and sweet. I used about 2 ‘perfect spoonfuls’ and forgot about it for a few minutes so it steeped maybe 15? But even with the rosehip and hibiscus, this didn’t taste oversteeped at all.
I will definitely be grabbing more of this, I can see myself going through this 50 grams very quickly in this heat!
Today is a perfect day to try out my new iced teas! And this is turning out to be pretty nice, even though/maybe because I didn’t expect too much. I wanted to see if I liked this any better than Dulce & Banana – it’s sooo much better, (at least in my opinion).
Made a cup of this iced, and it’s very smooth and refreshing – I can smell a hint of coconut, and the taste is light, sweet. There is definitely some kind of pina colada after taste, but with more banana than pineapple.
Wouldn’t have bought this before, but now I’m kinda considering getting a bit to have on hand.
I really enjoy this one but I do have to say that I much prefer it iced. Seems to have a little more flavour that way.
Definitely :) The good fruity parts stood out a bit more for me when it was iced.
