Midwest Tea Fest - June 6, 2015!
Hey, all! I hinted at this in one of my tea reviews several months ago and now the curtain is ready to be lifted!
I am organizing (with the help of other people, too, of course, including Amanda ‘Soggy Enderman’ Wilson & Teatiff) a tea festival that is centrally located in the US. After seeing festivals that were on either coast I started to wonder why we didn’t have one in the Midwest. And someone a long time ago mentioned on one of my reviews that we should have a SteepsterCon. :) So this is my answer to those things!
It will be June 6, 2015 in Kansas City. We’ll be rolling out promotional materials soon, and we’d love to have you check them out and let us know if this is something you would be interested in attending! June 6 is the Saturday after KC’s First Friday Artwalk and also the 2nd day of the Hospital Hill Run, one of the country’s oldest half marathons. We are holding the event at the fantastic Liberty Memorial WWI Museum, which is within walking distance of a few more KC attractions and shopping areas. So if you are not local to the area, there are definitely things in KC to make a weekend of it!
We’ll have local tea vendors as well as some from out of town (as well as some that have been reviewed here on Steepster), a few craftspeople with tea related merchandise, educational presentations throughout the day and free tea tastings with your own souvenir tasting cup all day long!
We’ll be keeping folks informed through this Facebook page:

And Amanda will be posting occasionally on her tea blog:

We’ll link the official website on the Facebook page (and here as well) when we finish polishing it. If you have questions I’d be happy to answer them here or you can PM me, or better yet, ask on the Facebook page and join us over there! :)
awesome guys! I can’t promise i’ll be able to make it but i’ll certainly try – wedding = less money for travel next year BAH!
As time progresses there will be interesting articles and tea themed tutorials to whet your appetite ;)
Oooh I’ll have to see if I can make it, since my mother lives near Kansas City. Might be a good excuse for a family visit! :P
Oh, and of course, everyone feel free to share those links with any other tea communities or tea friends! :) The more, the merrier!
Here is the first fun little bit, a look into the brain of the brains behind the festival :) http://ramblingbutterflythoughts.blogspot.com/2014/12/midwest-tea-festival-interview-with.html
Nicole has amazing tastes in Dinosaurs and hats!
Hey, gang! There have been some updates!
We have our first sponsor and our first official vendor! Welcome to Mandala Tea & Single Origin Teas, respectively!
Keep an eye on our website for an Indiegogo campaign offering super discounted admission tickets and tea gift baskets featuring some amazing Mandala Smart Soak.
We should have more vendor confirmations by the end of the month!
And by the end of the month our official website will go live with tons of information.
Mandala is sponsoring. They cannot attend this year. Single Origin is attending, though. And James’ educational presentation may, if we are lucky, include some hands-on tea leaf rolling with some of his very own fledgling tea plants!
Need a Harp player? :)
That would be a lovely addition – if we had the room. :) Maybe next year if this year goes well!
I’ll probably end up with weddings that weekend anyway, but it’s a fun idea!
