I was thinking of getting one of these buckwheat teas but I can’t tell what the difference is in some of them… And it’s not in English. :(

I’ve never ordered from Aliexpress before, and the reviews I could find didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the site as a whole. Have people on here had fairly good buying experiences? It seems to be kind of like ebay, in that sellers are rated accordingly, but I’m still a little leery of it.

I have ordered teaware from there with no issue.

I ordered non tea stuff recently. One order arrived and the other is still shipping. Shipping can take a while.

I’ve ordered quite a bit. From what I understand, they don’t get paid until you’ve confirmed delivery.

My only 2 complaints is I’ve gotten some really poor quality stuff – but I also paid very little for them. There are so many tea things on Aliexpress, and with english translation issues, it can be hard to find stuff – But also say you are looking for something specific, another seller might have it cheaper, but it can be hard to double check.

As usual to ebay, it is best to buy from a seller that has good feedback and the item has been reviewed.

Hmm, okay. Thanks a lot for responding, guys. I appreciate the info. I might give it a go if I can find something I really want with decent reviews.

Those look lovely, though also a little thin. May burn the fingers.

Pretty!

You have to scroll down in the description at times and it will let you know if it is raw = Sheng or ripe = shou.

So there’s this yixing tea set that appeals to me and is pretty cheap: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Drinkware-Coffee-Tea-Sets-New-2014-Yixing-Purple-Teapot-3-Pieces-Set-Tea-Service-Tea-Cup/1822280394.html

If I buy this, am I going to end up drinking black dye?

Lovely. :)

I have had absolutely no mutually resolved issues on Aliexpress over about 40 transactions. I have had missing items that were resent immediately, cancelled orders due to supplier issues ( lack of stock, warehouse fire in one case, etc) in these cases I always was refunded. I only have one dealer who I would not be willing to deal with again because of the way she handled the transaction. Quality wise pretty well everything has met or exceeded my expectations based on what I paid for it.

I just found this post that is geared mainly to the alibaba platform but the information is probably useful for all of us to consider when purchasing from Chinese suppliers. Bear in mind that the address info on aliexpress tends to be more basic. http://resources.alibaba.com/topic/38660/Ways_to_self_check_your_Chinese_suppliers_easily__.htm

How overwhelming—and I have no business buying tea!!!!!!

Same here. I kept getting emails about sales from some past sellers, but my wallet yelled at me. “NO TEA FOR YOU!”.
