I asked King Tea if they would be offering any sales on this 11/11 sale, they said no.

Many major tea vendors like DragonTeaHouse, CHINA GRANDNESS TEA CO.,LTD etc. have 1111 sales on AliExpress.

Do you know if YS use to do anything on 11/11?

AllanK said

The 11/11 thing is an Aliexpress thing I wouldn’t expect a sale from Yunnan Sourcing unless he thinks he is losing business to Aliexpress. If Scott thinks he is losing business he might start a competing sale but I wouldn’t expect it.

stock man said

ah! ok. I thought it was a general sale like the black thursday.

It looks nice but I think it’s painted. They don’t even mention if it’s bamboo or other wood. The size is nice

Ubacat said

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve never bought a tea tray before so was just going by what looked nice.

boychik said

I like mine . Got it last year from Aliexpress on 11.11. Looks like new. Made of wenge wood

You guys are not ready for this… the front picture had me laughing out loud (and probably looking like an idiot)
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Yixing-Teapot-50ml-Full-manual-Teapot-Xi-Shi-pot-Miniature-Mini-Pocket-Green-clay-teapot-Kung/1040913_32471668012.html

I can’t take it…

I can’t stop looking at that picture… it’s so funny.
Maybe I drank too much.

AllanK said

Judging by the picture I’d say the actual volume is about 5ml. A little too small for any use I can think of.

The picture on the finger…
It’s smaller than a penny, I’m sure a baby could swallow that safely.

Superbad photoshop. I doubt it is that small.

I think they intentionally make the super “bad” Photoshop effect to catch our attention, right?
Saying in its description, the size is 50ml.

I wonder if…in addition to the Full manual version, they have a Full automatic version too.

It’s hard to say but instinct says for that price it’s fake. Unfortunately the only way to find out is to buy one and hit it with a black light to see if the seal glows green. On the other hand the V93 is probably Dayi’s cheapest product so it could be real.

mrmopar said

I think it is real according to the one I own. This is close to the going price on Aliexpress. It has the proper seal on the back and the nei fei look legit. Being a ripe/shou it will not be as costly as a sheng version.

stock man said

I doubt because i’ve seen it in many other sellers $2-3 more expensive, that for a cake in this price range I think that is a hughe diference…

yssah said

werent you selling one of your cakes mrmo?

I think it’s a promotional item for traffic in their store. I looked at their selection of puerh and it was small.
Grandness tea shop has the same for for .10 cents more.

Also Naturally Fine tea has it for $5.80 and I know theirs isn’t a fake but the real deal.

I think $5.00 is about as low as you will see it , but you could probably find a tong, 5 tuos, on eBay for about $25.00 or $26.00.

stock man said

I see…

I’m thinking about buying a tong of this 2015 v93 or buying a tong of xiaguan’s jia ji or te ji.

I already have a tong of 2010 v93, but i’ve read that the 2015 version is really good.

mrmopar said

I haven’t had the 2015 as I usually wait a year or two for it to lose the fermentation flavor. I did have a 2008 the other night of this one, really good. These do age well. If you ever run across a Dayi you want me to check just send me a link. I can usually spot the fakes pretty easy.

I vouch for Mrmopar’s Dayi Spotting Skillz. ;)

thank you mrmopar!

Yah, I bargain shop before I buy so I see a lot of stuff. Keep me informed stock man if you need anything.

i only bought once my yixing pot from Aliexpress from this store. i think Terri recommended me them. the pot is very well made and very beautiful
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/346539

Ubacat said

Those are nice but I didn’t see an 11/11 sales. Still, it’s good to keep in mind. I don’t plan on getting many yixing teapots. I have one for light oolong that I rarely use now because I would always forget if I had light oolong, med, or dark oolong. I wanted one for sheng and allocated a pot that a friend gave me for free but it has ink on the outside so I didn’t like that idea. I just wanted one good quality one for sheng so I’m just taking my time looking around. No hurry.

boychik said

if you want sheng pot i would get hong ni (red clay) pot not bigger than 100ml. the smaller the better. Sheng can go many steeps, you dont need a big pot

Ubacat said

I had wondered about that. I love the look of the black or purple clay pots but didn’t know if they were good for sheng. The red ones are okay but not my favourite. I’ve seen yellow clay too.

yyz said

Ubacat.

If you are interested in locally available yixing, Tao Tea Leaf just listed a whole bunch. There are a few that are lower volume pots like this onehttp://www.taotealeaf.com/yixing-teapot-8-oriental-beauty-style/

I’ve gotten really bad yixing pots from aliexpress, like it was just painted over clay and it smelled like paint. http://oolongowl.com/the-5-aliexpress-yixing-tea-pot/

I’d honestly stick to a recommended seller that someone can vouch for.

I saw last night The Chinese Tea Shop got new small pots ( they are in Canada)

I got this: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/130cc-Animal-Bat-Purple-Clay-Teapot-Yixing-Zisha-Kung-Fu-Tea-Set-Chinese-Novelty-Items-Handmade/1853445034.html

I haven’t seasoned yet or done even the little things I know of that are supposed to test for “real Yixing” but it looks good and experience w/ seller was good. Extremely slow shipping but it was well packed. And they are doing 11/11.

The picture makes it look like black tea. Can’t really tell about this one as the link is in Spanish and my Spanish is not very good.

yyz said

Wierd. It is in English for me. It is a green tea. What makes me laugh is the company is calling its brand famous Tea no 1 and then marketing this Tea as admittedly not famous. Rizhao greens are generally pretty nice, though even they are faked sometimes:-)

There is a language drop down in the upper right.

AllanK, two days ago Ali changed to Spanish on me also. Even the drop-down did not help. Clearing my cache & cookies & restarting browser & logging back in to Ali is what fixed it.

This tea is a bilochun green.

If you want a chuckle, scroll down to After-Sale Protection (“7 days no reason to return”).

Even funnier: go to their Ali store and look at their banner at the top of the page. I’ll leave that for you to discover!

I didn’t see that TeaExplorer until I saw the desktop site:-)

So… I went a little nuts this morning. I may have ordered way too many tiny clay pots and a couple of sets… But at least a few of them will be to give to volunteers at the tea festival next year (assuming I can bear to part with them), so I can assuage my burning credit card with that rationalization… :)

Nicole said

The brush is used in gongfu ceremony to “paint” the hot yixing to help it gather more character and color from the tea. Also, it is used to collect and clean up the water that is spilled.

Nicole said

Excellent! Thank you!

I was right, I do need one. It would be less messy to share with my teapet that way. :)
