Tea and Chocolate Traveling Tea Box Sign Ups Closed
Ooo, two of my favorite things in the same box! I’d love to participate. :) I’ll be back home in Wisconsin and able to receive mail there in about a month, so would prefer not to receive it before November 24th.
Hey, I can’t find any swap cred or participation in any previous boxes for you. Can you provide evidence of either for me? I just want to make sure the box doesnt get lost since I’ve been in boxes that have. Thanks (:
I updated the list, we now have 13 (including myself) participants for the box. I’m limiting it to 15.
I’d like to participate! Dates I’m not available are 12/14-12/28. I’m in Virginia!
Michelle

Sure I understand and wouldn’t want it to get lost either! I just participated in the Secret Pumpkin and had a blast. This would be my first box but I’m eager to prove myself reliable in a box setting!
Hey Mandy, I was Michelle’s secret pumpkin and she was an awesome person to partner with.
I have a question about this box. Is it possible for people putting chocolate in the box before me to find out if any contain gluten?
I don’t see why not. Do you know how they would go about finding that out? Would it say gluten free on the label?
If there is an ingredient label it is easy to read the label and tell if there is gluten in it (provided you know what to look for, I do). If it is certified as gluten free it will say Gluten Free. Small chocolate makers should know which of their products contain gluten and which don’t. I plan to ask the chocolatier I will buy from since as I understand it we are not supposed to replace the chocolate with drug store chocolate. I don’t know if anyone else will have a gluten issue.
Should we make sure to put the original label in with the chocolate so all the nutritional info and ingredients are available for folks? And I’m assuming the chocolate is going to be like the tea where you can break off a little bit to try and don’t need to take the whole thing if it isn’t something you end up liking?
Silly question…..what do y’all consider “drugstore” chocolate? I am in backwoods Alabama and there are no chocolate makers nearby. Just asking so I can order some if needed. Thanks.
Dunno about everyone else but I’d consider “drugstore” chocolate as something you can get at just about any corner store: Reeses, M&Ms, Hershey’s, etc. Just my 2 cents, though. Mandy?
If you have a CVS or Walgreens, they usually have a section with some nicer chocolates. We are often surprised what we can find there.
To me, if you were a kid and would get it while trick-or-treating, then its a pass. So things like Hershey, Almond Joy, Payday, Reese’s, M&M’s, ect. Like Marzipan said, CVS, Walgreens, if you have a Whole Foods or other health food store, they will probably have a good selection of less common, nicer chocolates. Lily (Verdant Tea) suggested specialty grocers/ liquor store cheese shops as other places to look. Or even places like Pier 1 or TJ Max (they are the ones with the special foods section right?). Just keep an eye out, you never know when an interesting chocolate might pop up!
Hi, I’d love to participate. I’m in Massachusetts, and I won’t be around 12/9-1/6. I’ve participated in a traveling tea box before, whose name I don’t recall but can look up if you want… :)
It was this one: http://steepster.com/discuss/5737-considering-a-new-traveling-tea-box-sign-ups-closed-updated-8-slash-16?
(I kept the box kind of too long because midterms were really crazy that semester, but I don’t have midterms/finals anymore, so I’ll definitely be more punctual this time. :)
I’d love to participate. I’m newish but have done a couple of TTB already. I’m in NC. Not going anywhere for the holidays. Thanks!
I have not been active with tasting notes, but I will definitely review any that are from those brands. Hope to get in a more prolific tasting note groove soon. I certainly have plenty to try.
