12 Days of Christmas Swap

I just read through the thread from last year. I have been thinking about what teas could go with what days as I have been sipping tea today. Pretty excited!!

Too funny…I have been doing that very same thing :-)

I thought the Twelve Days of Christmas was counted from December 25th until January 6th. Unless I’m thinking of something different.

You’re correct – although for the sake of the swap, they may want to do it before in order to get in the spirit. But this is one of my Dad’s big holiday “pet peeves” – you can count on him to say something when people refer to the 12 days before Christmas. :)

TeaTee said

The 12th day of Christmas is Jan 5 and Jan 6 is the Epiphany (I think)

Katiek said

I think there is some variation in Christian traditions with most starting the counting on the day of the 25th, while others start on the night of the 25th, so the first “day” is the 26th.

That makes sense for the swap then.

Not sure how you’d find teas to fit all the song lyrics though. I can only think of one for ‘5 Golden Rings’. Good luck with all the birds. ;)

Well, there’s a whole bunch of bird-related tea companies! Bird Pick Tea, Bluebird Tea Co. Bird’s Eye Tea, to name a few :)

I mentioned starting on December 14th after doing 52 Teas’ 12 Days of Tea last year, where the last tea that you opened was on Christmas morning.

FYI, I’m not on the list. I was just curious.

How many spots do you guys have left?

We now have 5 spots left. Want to join us?

Yeah, I’m in (also Canadian, for the record)! :)

Am I correct in thinking there’s 3-4 spots left? Would you be willing to let someone new to the site join? I’m a sucker for things like this.

If so, then sign me up. :)

Just wanted to say I dig your handle! Fire and blood! (:

If there were a Song of Ice and Fire musical, I would want your handle to be the name. Just saying.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am a newbie as well. I just recently started reading tea blogs and looking at rating sites. Swaps like this are an awesome idea. I got so excited, I signed up immediately! I promise I won’t drop the bomb if you let me join. I would hate to be known as the Scrooge of the Christmas tea exchange! I also promise that I will package my tea in a very cool package. LMK Happy Day, Kelci

With people in Canada participating, do you think it might be better to do the traditional 12 days of Christmas way through January? It just seems like it’d be REALLY hard to get things sent to/from Canada in time for the 14th. Unless I guess a couple people who’d be able to get things done/out within the first few days of December do the first 2-3 days or something.

moraiwe said

I agree with this. Things tend to get kind of hectic around the holidays and playing the time-frame less tight(especially with the increase in volume the postal service deals with this time of year) might be a safer bet.

momo said

Yeah, even not taking into account a delay in shipping between countries, there’s 16 days and a holiday in there until 12/9 so it might be better entirely overall. More time to think it out, too.

LiberTEAS posted hers at the end of August last year and they had a couple months to plan http://steepster.com/discuss/3316-christmas-is-coming-dot-dot-dot

I wouldn’t mind this. I agree it would be better overall, with more time for shipping and to see if a tea can be found to match our assigned day.

CelebriTEA said

This might be better for all .
I just sent a package from US to Canada.
It is a little expensive and there is lag time…
Just as when Canada sends stuff to us.

Sadly, I think I will not be able to participate in this. I’m in nursing school and have a lot of end-of-the-semester things going on. I wouldn’t be able to do the version starting after Christmas, since January starts the new semester and the next nursing class is supposed to be crazy tough. It makes sense to do it after Christmas, so that will give everyone time to get their teas selected and mailed out. Hopefully next year I will think of this sooner!

With that being said, there is one spot left open for someone. I will be happy to pass the reigns off to someone else to finish organizing everything – maybe CelebriTEA since we’ve been messaging since the beginning? Let me know.

Even not participating, I look forward to following the thread and seeing how it works out! :)

CelebriTEA said

I really hope we get that last participant~ This will be crazy FUN!
I was a nurse over twenty years and I understand the craziness of school.
hopefully you will finish off well :-)

MissB said

I’m happy to help organize if there’s a need for extra hands.

I hope nursing school goes amazingly well, and that it’s even better than expected.

Josie Jade said

Thank you, both. It looks like the 12 spots have been filled now. CelebriTEA, you’re in charge. I think I will have almost as much fun reading the thread! :)
