Advent Calendars 2023

FYI I can confirm that the design for DT is actually the same as last years.

I’m curious which advents my fellow Steepsters are choosing this year, please share! I’ll start ha ha.

My advents for 2023:
• 52teas (12 days)
• Beach House Teas (also 12 days, to alternate with 52teas!)
• Bird & Blend matcha
• Compagnie & Co
• Sipology
• Tea At The White House
• Thésaurus (Fandom Fantasy option)

And I also have a DIY advent, which is all Kyoto Obubu teas (yes, I have that many lol). I like having an unflavored advent and I’m finally reusing my lovely wooden Fortnum advent from a couple of years ago! I already portioned out the teas and put them in the box so I can’t back out like last year… XP

Excited to try some new-to-me companies (Compagnie & Co, Sipology, Tea at the White House) and also some that I’ve only had 1 or 2 teas from (Beach House, Thésaurus). Also just so excited for advent season in general, so let me know which advents you’re planning to do this year! :D

I got the Fortnum & Mason one, have had it in the past and it’s been reliably enjoyable. I’ve been eyeing the nerdfelt Chrismukkah calendar as well.

Normally, I get quite a few, but I’ve found myself in a mood where I want a calendar which will have a higher amount of darjeeling and assam teas and I haven’t found anything that’s fit the bill.

I went with the B&B matcha and the B&B normal advents. It cost me over $200 CAD + $20 in duties :’) Why did I do this to myself

It’s kind of killing me that Fauchon doesn’t ship to the states. It looks like they have two tea advents, the regular and prestige which has 2 teabags for each day. Not sure if it’s the same selection of teas. I found one place that looks like it might ship to the states, but they are charging twice the price.

I didn’t feel adventerous, so ended up getting the same two calendars I got last year:

- Mariage Frères
- Dammann Frères

I think I preordered 52teas again but need to confirm that went through in receipts lol..

If my budget was bigger I’d want to add A.C. Perch’s. Always wanted to try them and they’re a much cheaper option, shipping-wise, than MF. Maybe next year!

Going to skip an advent this year. Ordered 2 last year and kept getting some crummy teas and turned me off – although it was fun. I have so many samplers and ordered from last year still, and throughout this year, that I need to focus on getting the cupboard cleared.

Bought Nabo as they have free shipping to 29th October!

Got WAY too many advents last year (nine), so I pared down this year to the Plum Deluxe herbal advent, Plum Deluxe regular Hannukah sampler, 52teas advent, and Tea Thoughts winter countdown box. That last one isn’t only tea and I’ll be opening it before December, though, so it won’t be part of the advent crush.
