Tea of the Week for June 15, 2020: Gingerly Pineapple Oolong Tea!
Hello! I am going to keep on posting my teas on here – until I’m told I can’t. Hopefully, it’s OK given the changes that are taking place here.
Our Tea of the WEek for June 15, 2020 is:
Gingerly Pineapple Oolong Tea – I LOVE how this one turned out. A sweet, creamy, floral TieGuanYin blended with pineapple & ginger. A really pleasing balance of flavors.

Our Tea of the Week for June 8 is:
Mixed Berries Iced Black Tea – For this blend, I took a page out of our founder’s book & managed to find an organic Iyerpadi CTC black tea to utilize for the base. To that, I added strawberries, blackberries, blueberries & raspberries! As the name implies, this one is fantastic iced!

Thank you for your support!!!
My sub box is due for delivery tomorrow! :D
Thanks – I’ll be putting that up soon – but first I want to give the subscribers and the members of the 52Teas club a crack at those teas before they’re one the website. (one of the benefits of subscribing is that you get to “pre-order” the featured reblend of the month before it’s added to the website where it may potentially sell out before you have a chance to order it.)
I don’t watch the show, but:
Goji berry is also called wolfberry. Osmanthus flower is a pretty yellow spangle of aroma, rather than just adding calendula for color. Gunpowder green is a very distinctive shape of leaf for high visual contrast. Yunnan leaves would be smoky(?) which would add depth.
I haven’t watched the show, but from rumors, you should have a brew that turns blood red? :D
Yeah, I think approaching it as concepts instead of flavours might be a good approach. Gives you a little bit more creative freedom as well. So something that steeps blood red with a name like “Red Wedding” might be fun.
I also did a quick Google Search for some canon food/drink mentions in the show, (I’ve only personally seen seasons 1-2) and here are two of the ones that jumped out to me as big enough references that would also translate to tea flavors though:
1. The Dire Wolf shaped loaf of bread that Hot Pie bakes for Arya (Could be like a sweet bread inspired blend – Dire Wolf Cinnamon Raisin Bread? Maybe?)
2. Lemon Cakes, which are apparently Sansa’s favourite food?
Also Lamprey Pie, which is a pie with fish, wine, and spices. Maybe skip the fish, and that could be a loosely interpreted tea version?
And you could always go the route of puns? So, like, a “Jon Snowcone” blend? Idk – just reaching for ideas XD
And nothing wrong with doing a wine inspired blend!
I appreciate the responses so far, please keep them coming before the wight walkers get here!

OMG, those are hilarious! I especially love: jon snow knows nothing….about tea, White tea Walkers, and Tyrions Tieguanyin.
I know absolutely nothing about GoT, and even I’ve watched the famous Jon Snow Knows Nothing About Tea video, heh.
The March teas sound fantastic so far! Looking forward to getting them at some point! :D
Hey Anne! My Christmas tea suggestions for the poll:
Ginger Cola
Kumquat Cucumber Chutney
Firebolt
Drink (Don’t Eat!) Grapefruit Sugar Scrub
Crisp Cranberry Soda Green Rooibos
Banana Pudding Black Tea
Thanks! A couple of them won’t be on the poll – and I’d like to offer reasons why – so that you don’t think I ignored you! :)
Firebolt – is a bulky kind of tea – too bulky for the box. That doesn’t mean that I won’t reblend it around that time though as it would be a nice tea for autumn/winter – so if time permits, I might blend it as a special reblend.
Grapefruit Sugar Scrub – i’m not including Oolongs on the poll because I’ve already decided that one of the four new teas will be an Oolong.
The others are on the list! :)
I’m currently making up the poll – I am including Firebolt on the poll – to see the number of votes it receives (which will help me to determine if it’d be a popular reblend). I won’t be able to include it in the box, but the votes will at least give me a chance to see how in demand it is.
Coconut French Toast with Cardamom Maple Syrup
Chocolate Rose Truffle
Mango Sticky Rice
Here are my votes, but I was VERY spoiled with reblends I wanted to see in the last advent. :D
PEACHY KEEN
BLACK SILK CHOCOLATE MILK QU HAO
Berried Treasure
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Honeybush
Smoky Butterscotch Peach
one of the marshmallow treats? Banana Pudding genmaicha?
Thanks! I can’t include the Black Silk on the poll. There are numerous reasons for this – if you really want to know them, you can feel free to DM me. The others will be included on the poll! Thanks again!
No need to explain, but I’ll probably keep including it for poll suggestions anyway. :D
Please do! It will serve as a reminder for me to keep looking for the tea – which is the main reason for not reblending it: none of my current vendors offer the tea so I need to look outside the handful of vendors that I usually work with to source the tea … which means that I’d need to get my credentials to them and they’d need to send me samples so that I can put together a minimum order. It’s a lot of stuff (on top of the usual stuff) that I’d need to do before time to blend the teas in September/October – and I fear I don’t have the time I need and as I said above, I am NOT going to be late with the box this time.
So, I’m not saying I’ll never try reblending it (because I do want to try to reblend it – with my own twist on it) but just that I need to source the tea and do a lot of groundwork before I get the tea in my inventory to work with it – and then I’ve gotta work with it to get it right. :)
Completely understand. I’ve probably only seen the base tea once before and it was ages ago. But it’s such a memorable blend because of that. Maybe someday!
