major tea drinking day!

Also tried what-cha’s new georgian davit ‘phoenix’ black tea and this is a good one. There is a syrupy fruity sweetness, like molasses or something, and not generic malt flavour. I made it a bit strong in the gaiwan, hence no real review yet but anyone after some black tea you should seriously try this and the other what-cha one, the wild shan cha, taiwanese. (I just noticed its 25% off as tea of the month)

They are both really good and rounded and other bold flavours I havent properly explored yet

Banyan ban tian yao oolong, what cha.

Roasted light wuyi style oolong with a slight tart berry taste. Interesting leaf taste

I can’t quite work it out

Wuyi Origin Ya Shi Xiang Lao Cong.

Its pretty good. Doesnt suffer from the off flavours of the oil & perfume mix that ya shi can. It has a slight sweetness & fruit hidden away. I pushed it a bit and didnt seem to suffer. Was only trying a small amount, next time i’ll go large

Yunnan Sourcing Premium Ben Shan oolong.

This is TGY-lite which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s got similar florals, but tamer and not too perfumey. Doesn’t quite go the distance of a good TGY though.

I often wondered what that tasted like

Wuyi Origin Xing Ren Dan Cong.

Another good Dan Cong, leaning towards the nuts. Its soft & round & seems quite forgiving, but as i’ve only just started initial tastes of these while arting so no proper reviews as I think this one needs a bit more consideration.

More wuyiorigin:

Rou gui fruit taste. I don’t seem to get much inspiration from rou gui, and I thought this would be the one to bowl me over. Alas, initial tests are ’where’s my fruit’. Seems OK but a bit tame. I have had this with all the rou gui I ever tried though, even with special fancy versions

The Lao Cong ya shi is a beautiful though. First tastes with concentration gave me nice fruity perfumed longevity with minimal pungency but good energy & very elegant. Second session at a festival proved that it can take more careless brewing, which can lead to an over steeped mess with something so strong as ya shi. This one gets top marks imo.

Today is just my daily drinker cold brew silver needle, but yesterday I got out the whole gongfu kit to introduce a friend to loose leaf tea, which was way more fun! We had a little bit over everything – White Peony, Dragonwell, and Crimson Oolong from Art of Tea, and Superior Keemun and some ripe puer from Meileaf. Surprisingly, her favorite was the ripe puer!

Wuyiorigin Milan. Pretty classic good Milan. Exactly as one expects from this type of tea. Nice vibrancy on the tongu with honey orchid aroma and taste.

Isn’t it nice? I received a sample of this and need to get more. Hard to get a bad cup of tea with this and the Ya Shi.

I also have the Lao Cong Milan but building up to it after this sample.

yes, you know that.. all the WO teas so far are totally nice to brew and go down so easy…

They also have a new 2017 song zhong which makes me a happy steepster

What cha winter tie Guan Yin.

Its fruity. Such a good example of this classic tea. This & the YS imperial one are both good, but YS is vegetal & fresh. Almost like high mountain Taiwan. While this one tastes lower mountain, but the bonus is this is with fruit. 10/10 winner
