Hey all! I’m Ken, a newbie here, and a long-time tea-lover from the east coast USA. I used to work at Teavana (RIP), and I acquired quiiiite a bit of tea during my time there. I’ve got plenty I still need to get through, though my favourites are pure teas and floral teas – especially anything jasmine!
I also used to be a part of a tea-buying group, who’d split the cost of interesting cakes – does anyone know of any groups like that still around? Not that I need to buy anymore tea, mind!
Welcome! There’s a good deal of swapping and sharing around here, although we’ve hit the annual summer slump. Things’ll pick up when fall hits.
Thanks for the welcomes! Just a quick question – is there a reason I wouldn’t be able to update my profile? Anything I add disappears, even though I get an “Account Updated!” notification. Wondering if it’s a bug or something hinky on my end. Either way, thanks! :D
Hi and welcome, Ken! You’ll notice a lot of us have empty profiles and the blue teapot for profile pics. It seems like users who joined after a certain date have not been able to edit profile info at all… I was hoping it was a “stick around long enough and you’ll get privileges” kinda deal, but alas, I dunna think so. :(
I hope you won’t give up on Steepster because of the technical issues! It is a great community of people and an awesome resource of tea information. We look forward to your tasting notes and tea knowledge!
Hello everyone, my name is Sarah and tea is my special interest/obsession/hobby. I’m absolutely in love with Chinese and Japanese greens at the moment, but also love Pu’erhs, Oolongs, and black teas. I will try any tea not once, but twice ^^
I worked as a barista for a while but now I’m working as home health care for my grandmother, and I’m in school to become a medical biller/coder. My dream is to one day have a whole space in my own apartment/house dedicated just to tea.
Welcome! It is a lovely community here and we are happy to see new faces and read new notes! I hope your tea dreams come true!
Hi everyone! After several years of trying to join Steepster and getting error messages, I’ve finally been able to make a profile for the first time. Woohoo!
For a couple years I had a huge tea-drinking hobby/habit (hobbit?) – a whole dedicated tea cupboard in my kitchen and, well, let’s just say more teaware than I could go through between dishwasher cycles. I took a break when I realized I was buying teas faster than I could drink them, but I just ordered new teas for the first time in a year and I’m super excited to steep them with you!
I didn’t know people were having trouble joining! That is awful. I knew there were lots of technical issues and trouble setting up profiles at times.
I am glad you kept trying and were able to join. I will look forward to your notes.Welcome!
Returning member who was looking for Ceylon St James and this site popped up. I remember the ownership change at 52Teas, the beginnings of Liquid Proust, and Southern Boy Ice Tea pivoting to Amazon.
I drink a lot of Harney East Frisian. My daily brewing style is looseleaf black in a mug, unsweetened no milk, and I’ll drink around the leaves then rebrew with half the water.
Somehow I missed following you all those years ago but I wasn’t great at navigating the site and finding new members back then.
Welcome back, and I look forward to new tasting notes from you!
New member, I live in Tampa and like tea! My favorites are English Breakfast but I also enjoy oolong and other black teas. I would not say that I am really knowledgeable at all, but I am interested.
I found steepster through listening to the comedian Emmy Blotnick.
Welcome! (Belated but sincere!) Good people here, and no matter how long you hang out, there will be still something to learn.
