Upcoming Dammann Freres group order

Hey guys, I have loved the teas I just got in so much that I am making a wish list for another order. I thought I would put this out there so if you are interested, you can start looking at their site and reading reviews of their teas. They have a TON of different teas, so my first order took a while for me to put together. It will be at least a week before I start putting together a final list, so you have some time.

A couple of notes:

- They sell in 100g sizes, so if there are people who want to spilt them, let’s please keep it to 25g increments. Additionally, if you really want a tea and would be happy getting 50g instead of nothing, please note that too (in case no one else wants the same tea you do.

So it might look something like:
Marzipan:
Noel de Provence, 25g, 50g (if you really don’t want more than half, and if no one else wants this one, don’t order it)
Charlotte aux Fruits, 25g, 50g, 100g (if you are ok with any of the quantities and absolutely want it even if no one else wants to split it)

- Their prices are really good for French teas. I was surprised. Just as an example, the last order I placed had 20 100g packages (not all mine) and with shipping it was $136 US, so average of $6.80 per tea.

- So basically you’re looking at the price of the tea, plus a split of their shipping, plus me reshipping to you. I only pass along the actual costs.

I’m in. I’ll start checking out their site and getting my list together. Thanks for doing this!

The last time I ordered from them, I had to go to the post office to sign for the package. When I arrived, the postal clerk told me how everyone kept walking by my package of tea because it smelled so wonderful.

I actually still have my box on the kitchen island because it smells so great!

Are you up for including Canadians in the order? I’ve been meaning to order lately anyway, so this would be great timing for me if that would be ok. If not, I understand!

It doesn’t bother me at all if you don’t mind the shipping from the US to Canada.

swedish chef – I’ll be visiting DF when i’m there at the end of April, so worse case, I can pick up and ship to you if coordinating all this doesn’t work out

I’d love to be in this! Never done a group order so not 100% sure how it would work. Not sure how much about the costing thing…can I PM you about it, Marzipan?
Also which website would I be looking at of theirs? Their official one?

It’s dammann.fr – you’re welcome to PM me, it’s pretty straightforward though.

Do their flavored black teas generally use the same base tea?

Nevermind, I noticed they use different black teas, it would just be tough to tell if each particular tea has the base I don’t like.

What does shipping look like from them?

It was 15 Euros (~$16) for 20 teas, it scales up or down based on the number of teas.

Does DF ever have any sales?

No idea.

Just saw this but Tea Sipper, I’ve never seen them do sales and I am on their email distribution list. I don’t think it’s really part of the culture.

Thanks Dinosara! Well, I just ran into some money problems so I probably shouldn’t buy tea right now. Should I remove my tea list so it doesn’t get confusing? Sorry to be a problem!

I’ll update the spreadsheet on my end.

Ah, sorry! Thanks again for doing this Marzipan!

I was thinking about passing, but I made the mistake of looking at their website. I am making a list as I type. Count me in!

What is their website and when would you put in the order?

Removed what I wanted. Sorry for the confusion and trouble!

Really though, I’d like to buy 25 grams of at least five teas to make shipping worth it. I also didn’t notice if any of those aren’t in stock.

I’m interested!

I’d be up for 25g of any of these blends (possibly 50g if need be):

Cola déthéiné
Figue Fraîche
Mangue égyptienne
Noël à Venise

Is there a customs/brokerage handling fees that will be applied to these teas? If there is no charge, I would love to know how they get around this. One of the reasons why I have never considered a group buy from Mariage Freres is, besides the shipping charge, there is always a customs/brokerage charged applied to the teas and I have no idea of what this charge will cost me.

There were no fees applied to my order that came last week.

I think it’s a bit hit and miss. The higher the value/volume, the higher the likelihood of customs/broker fees.

For this reason, I can’t have things from Think Geek. :( Hubby got me a few beloved things once, and though the value was less than $100, there was $35 in customs. BLECH.

No idea what the laws are in Canada, but I am finding out about the US. I missed a call yesterday from the Postmaster and will return the call today.
