Oh my God. I actually had to dump this mug of tea down the drain after two sips. This has never happened to me before.

I don’t know what happened! I used hot (not boiling) water and I let it steep for two minutes before I tried it. It just tasted disgusting. Bitter
and almost like garlic!

I’ve had this one before, too, and liked it. Normally it’s lightly floral and fairly smooth for a bagged commercial blend. This was a total abomination.

I made a mug of loose tea instead from another company to console myself.

Day infinity of this cold. Can I just say I am thoroughly tired of tisanes, herbal teas, green tea blends etc… I want me a cup of black tea with cream and sugar. Especially because I have some new flavours from Christmas and Boxing Day…

Alas… my cold has not left yet and I am stuck with herbals. I’ve definitely depleted my stock and Refresh was no exception. This is a nice peppermint and it’s soothed my sore tummy the last couple of days. A good option if buying loose isn’t your thing, of if it’s not available.

I prefer loose still though. Tasted somehow more fresh… har har.

I am making cupcakes for my best friends baby shower tonight and needed something that didn’t have caffeine but was refreshing. I bought this last year during the Christmas sale and just cracked open the seal today. It is a decent mug of peppermint tea. I’ve had loose leaf tea and find that it’s better.

It’s doing the trick!

Well… I tried this tea again. This tea is a very tricky one to brew. I followed the instructions on the back, but it said boiling water. I think next time I’ll brew it for green tea brewing instructions. Such a tricky one to steep. Honestly I don’t taste or smell anything fantastic in this one. I don’t smell joy or Christmas or anything from this. Just black tea. I don’t really get why this is a seasonal tea either.

I think I will have to revisit this one again and hopefully, once steeped differently will jump out at me. I can’t decide if this is a milk tea, milk and sugar, straight… all in all the trio of leaves just make me thing this is too much going on. I have a whole tin of sachets left, so I guess I will be giving this a try again, but right now I just don’t see what all the “joy” is about this tea.

Sooo…Tazo calls this an exuberant herbal infusion and I AGREE
A little tart,but I just LOVE the hibiscus & orange peel …
The passionfruit is understated but contributes to a successful YUM!
I dont care so much for a second infusion and prefer a new bag evry time
for that fresh sweet/tart… that I fall in love with each sip
I am glad there are some wonderful bagged teas out there
for times like now when I am stuck in the hospital…

I just needed to stop in and give the “number” a nod and a boost.
I had this again at my Auntie’s for Thanksgiving.
I first had given it a lower rating based on the fact the resteep is not really drinkable.
BUT~ I TRULY love this tea!
I am now out of the samples my Auntie gave me, and I must purchase some.
Wondering how this will taste (iced) come Summer?

jeweledthumb

This is my absolute favorite iced!!!

CelebriTEA

Thank you, I will have to try it that way :-)

Yes, I love drinking this cold. One teabag is plenty to make a refreshing and beautiful alternative to plain water.

Mmm…first brew is really tasty…
the tartness of the hibiscus, rose hips & orange peel is perfect…not harsh or overdone.
Would go fabulously with my Thanksgiving ham(brown sugar cured)
with the orange marmalade glaze… I love this hot or cold THE FIRST TIME..
when it brews such a lovely lady pink that definitely spells passion.
Hot, cold, or in the afternoon, the cinnamon cannot be tasted at all.
The tropical flavors and licorice root mentioned cannot be tasted,
but sure lend to the sort of tropical lemonade scent
that can make you fall head over heels in love.
Unfortunately, there is no lingering aftertaste and
the resteep is a dusty, unflattering shade of purple
bearing little resemblance to the initial steeping and devoid of the initial scents.
I cannot call it bad, though. For an inexpensive brew, I can happily fall in love,
over and over again…I simply must remember this is a short term lover (wink).

drank Joy by Tazo

I gave this 3 more tries! I was with family for Thanksgiving and Nobody had any good tea. I didn’t bring any knowing I was buying…heck, I learned my lesson, always have tea on hand. I do actually carry some in my purse usually but I cleaned my purse. ANYWAY, I needed tea! Went to Starbucks on Black Friday and got a cup in the AM, then went in the PM and bought a box for home. The young lady at the counter was a GEM, she hooked me up when the fancy box of Joy was gone. I have steeped this at least 3 different ways, and I actually re-steep this once even. This whole experiment if you will, has really shown me how water temp can play a crucial part in brewing. I knew it did, but this actually let me taste it. I have enjoyed this best brewed as a green tea. I usually use a little sugar, no milk, with this one. I have been drinking it for 3 days now in the AM.

I had this at Starbucks the other day. They simply had ‘Joy’ listed as the description on the board. I asked if it was a black tea, and was told yes. After I let it steep for 3 mins, I took off the top and the bag was puffed up, like green tea. Made me scratch my had. Only until now, after reading the description, can I make some sense of it. I put cream and sugar in since I thought it was a classic black. Probably would of held off on the cream if I would of known what type the tea truly was. Guess now I know, will have to give another try. It was good, but in all fairness, will have a do over without the cream.

drank Awake English Breakfast by Tazo

I tend to favor English Breakfast. Tazo doesn’t disappoint me. Nice tea I can count on to ‘awake’ me just as stated. I steep for 3 mins. I take with cream and a scant of sugar. I brew bags at home, since I can usually buy a whole box for the price Starbucks want to charge me for one cup at the store. So, this is not a usual choice when I am at their house just at mine.

drank Green Ginger by Tazo

There is too much shame in throwing away unused tea leaves. I honestly cannot remember how this single teabag snuck into my collection, but here it is and today seems alright for a small risk.

Upon opening the package, it smelled like an old hotel room. Not the best of signs.

As for the taste itself: the ginger is there along with the lemongrass, and it compliments the green tea, but it’s so…. tepid. The water, yes, perhaps, but the ginger! It does create a quick warming sensation at the back of my throat and later cools it down, which would be nice if only it weren’t so fleeting! I can feel the ginger, yes, but can I taste it? Yes also, but not enough. With ginger, I want something a spicy wake-up call, not an afterthought. But then again, this bag’s been sitting around for who-knows-how-long.

In a dire pinch, the tea is not all that bad, but a more rewarding alternative is not at all difficult to find.

Props to the ginger.

I first bought this tea for a camping trip in Joshua Tea because it was the only tea in the little grocery where we provisioned. It’s pretty good and it always reminds me of that trip. For some reason I can’t find this anywhere lately. I almost bought the really over priced cloth bags at Starbucks just to have some on hand. I like it with a little honey.

drank Organic Green by Tazo

I got home a little while ago for the concert, which was awesome! The choirs at UMSL are amazing, I love the choir director (who is also the head of the music department), & I really enjoying playing with them. On the way home, I bought myself a ridiculous amount of Sushi, which I’ve been pigging out on while reading steepster reviews & drinking the very last cup of this green tea, which for a bagged green is ok. I don’t plan on purchasing more, because I have tons of amazing greens around here, but I figured I might as well polish this off, & so there it is: sipdown!

drank Wild Sweet Orange by Tazo

No, no, no. The name and description sound so tempting, but I do not like this one! Bought a box years ago and drank a mug of it, hated it, then tried it again because I’m an eternal optimist and hoped it would be better the second time. It wasn’t. Orange is usually a wonderful flavor, but the flavor of this tea reminded me of the way rotting oranges smell. This box of tea was quickly given away!

drank Jasmine Dragon Pearls by Tazo
18 tasting notes

This is a tea I picked up at a Tazo store a few months ago. The tiny rolled balls just fascinated me! It was pretty pricy (for me, at least!), but I’m glad I bought it. It has a beautiful scent and pretty much tastes like it smells. I find myself wanting to just hold the mug and breathe in the steam! This is the first jasmine tea I’ve purchased, and I’m really curious to try some other (cheaper) brands and see how they compare. Also, this may be a no-no, but I use the same tea in my little tea infuser 2 or 3 times without any perceptible decline in flavor.

sherapop

Multiple infusion is certainly not a no-no for green teas! You’d be throwing precious liquid down the drain if you discarded the leaves after only one infusion!

drank Organic Peach Cobbler by Tazo
18 tasting notes

I brought this tea home after a visit to a Tazo store. The name sounded so tempting and it smelled awesome, very peachy! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it at all. Tried it twice and let it steep for different lengths of time. When I steeped it as long as the package said, it was quite bitter without much in the way of peach flavor. When I steeped it for less time, it somehow managed to taste bitter and weak simultaneously. The tea got dumped down the sink both times, something I rarely do. My husband gave the rest of the package to his tea loving coworker!

drank Black Dragon Pearls by Tazo

A few months ago I purchased these during a 50% off sale on tazo.com. I’ve used them a few times but I was not sure how I felt about them so I did not write a review.

I think I’ve finally worked out the right combination for me to enjoy them.
3 Dragon Balls in 8oz boiling water for 3.5 min; resteeps for 4m and 5m.
The cup was pleasant and I’ll do it again.

This yields a solid black tea – nothing fancy; not really malty. These are not my favorite Dragon Balls by any means. I have three others which I would rate higher; however, these are cheaper and without the comparison to the other three, quite acceptable.

I’ll probably use these to grab and take out to a restaurant meal. In fact, someone is coming over with Chinese takeout next week and I’ll probably serve this as one of our teas with the meal.

Tough to make properly, but well worth it. Steep it too long and the black tea takes over. Too short a steeping time will leave it tasting like little more than weak green tea. If you can hit that sweet spot somewhere in the middle, it’s a well-rounded and interesting cuppa.

drank Focus by Tazo

Tea #8.

I keep forgetting that Tazo does loose leaf. It’s a surprise every time I remember again.

Tried half a cup of this one this morning — I decided I could use the energy and focus, even if it was just the placebo effect. I wasn’t terribly impressed — it was just okay. I wanted it to taste like those chocolate covered orange marmalade sticks from Trader Joe’s (the old ones, before their dis-and-re-appearance). The orange was not quite marmaladey, but not quite fresh tasting, and it didn’t mesh with the chocolate as well as I might have liked…

I think there’s a chocolate orange tea in the box somewhere, I should try that and see if I like it better…

I still don’t have a new tea strainer at the office after mine disappeared so I’m drinking the bagged tea we have here that’s free. This is wholly unremarkable and kind of light on the flavor in my opinion. I put a bit of soymilk in mine and it’s definitely better that way. It’s hard to argue with free but this isn’t something I would buy for myself.

Wouldn’t office life be better if the tea, coffee, paper pads, pens, etc would be a little better? It’s the little things that make or break your day.

Agreed – That’s why I bring my own tea to work usually… :))

drank Passion (full leaf) by Tazo

So good! I know it’s all super mainstream, but I reach for this daily. Ok multiple times daily. There’s no such thing as say, hibiscus poisoning, right? I hope not.

I feel like I may be addicted to this tea (not really, addicitons are bad :p) – It’s just perfect. I love the slight tartness although I will say I do add sweetener (two packets of stevia or a little honey) and prefer it hot. I tried it today at Starbucks iced, unsweetened, with lemonade – yummy and satisfying on an 80 degree plus day, but I still prefer it hot. Perfect for cuddling up with a Jane Austen book. The color is very fitting and beautiful as well!

The way I prepare it at home is with boiling hot water and two to three satchels. That may sound crazy, but I like my tea strong-ish and can’t stand anything watery. For reference: one satchel is acceptable for a Starbucks Tall, but I don’t think two would hurt, I’d definitely need two or maybe three for a Grande.

I do think there is a definite taste difference between the full leaf version and the regular tea bags. I used to drink the regular version everyday in college until I got tired of it, the tartness of the regular bags is different and more pronounced in my opinion. I’d never go back to that version. If you’re going to buy Passion for your home cupboard I highly suggest you make sure you get the full leaf which will be in tin rather than the regular bags that come in a box.

I sign off as I savor my third cup of the day, very slowly since I used my last three satchels for this large cuppa… Gotta go get some more tomorrow :p

A wonderful tea. Has a satisfying flavor that lingers on your tongue. It’s a mellow and deep flavor lightly smoky but not like a campfire. I do 2 minutes instead of the recommended 3 so it doesn’t become bitter. I’ve noticed that Tazo teas have the tendency to become very bitter if steeped for the recommended time.
