I used to buy this tea from Starbucks, and was quite sad when they stopped carrying it in-store. Every now and then, while I’m travelling, I will find a teabag of this type next to the kettle in my hotel room. I hoard them. The loose leaf tea is better, but this tea even tastes good in tea bags. It’s simply great, green tea.

Smells nice but I can barely detect the peach flavour so this just ends up tasting like a generic green tea with a hint of something else.

I was offered this tea this morning and enjoyed it. Basically your standard chai, but very good for a tea bag and stuff.

I know I have an unrefined palate and this probably proves it. I drink this hot, unsweetened, and over concentrated and it’s still one of my regular go to bagged tisanes. I had dropped bagged teas altogether until I switched to a job whose breakroom has only a water cooler and a microwave. So now I need bagged teas available from my local grocery store that I can brew up in a microwaved coffee mug and this is one of the few caffeine free options I have.

It’s tart, citrusy, and oddly sweet. It is not subtle. Would I buy this if not for my work situation? No. But it has character which is enough to put it over the generic bags of tea dust that it sits next to at the grocery store.

drank Pumpkin Spice Chai by Tazo

I received a bag of this tea in a care package from a friend. I’m guessing it must have been a special edition autumn tea, because I don’t recall ever seeing it in store. When I opened the tea bag, the scent was an appealing blend of pumpkin and cinnamon. But the tea itself tasted like licorice and cinnamon with a slight kick of black pepper in the aftertaste. Not a fan!

I actually got this as a base for kombucha, and it worked well as one. As a straight chai, I like it less but it’s ok for a bagged chai.

drank Vanilla Caramel Chai by Tazo

Tried this one at work today and I was pleasantly surprised! Although I usually prefer my chai with milk, this one was enjoyable with no additives. The black base is smooth and mild, so I mainly taste the chai spices and vanilla with just a bit of caramel sweetness.

It has just the right amount of fruity taste. I was blown away by the taste, I had my doubts at first, it does better to do the 5 minute steeping, and the mint is very light and pleasant.

A review of Passion Tea by Tazo

Company: Tazo
Tea Name: Passion
Tea Type/Varietal: Herbal
Region: Egypt, Nigeria, US, Chile, China, Turkey, Uzbekistan
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: ecotainer paper cup, 1 tea bag
Plucking Season: no idea what this means
Liquid Color: color of my poop after eating a lot of beets
Leaf Characteristics: mixed herbs

Steepings 1 steep in 8oz of 180 degree water.

Tart, citrus upfront with strong hibiscus. Creamy orange peel with a slight twinge of vanilla follows. Finishes with nutty licorice. Clean aftertaste of tart cranberries and sweet cherries. Pretty, pretty good.

I received this in my Christmas stocking. It came in a nice tin. Joy, what a promising name! I understand this is a holiday blend. I’m not sure what I expected, but this tea was quite disappointing. Nothing wrong with it really. It was just nothing to write home about. There didn’t seem anything Christmasy about it. It seemed like another average black tea. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. I have yet to meet a Tazo tea that I would rate “gotta have it”. I wouldn’t make an effort to seek this one out when there are so many other black teas I prefer.

Tazo Zen is a decent enough green tea. Flavours of mint and lemon blend nicely however it does become a bit astringent if over-steeped. It is quite soothing if prepared properly.

Used two sachets per 14 ounces boiling water, steeped for 5 minutes. Decent tasting tea, but there are tastier varieties of rooibos out there.

drank Awake English Breakfast by Tazo
62 tasting notes

Drank this, as usual, without cream and sugar. It’s much thinner and zippier than some other English breakfast teas I’ve tried recently (e.g., Twinings and Bigelow), with a bright, bitter herbal finish. To me it tastes light and insubstantial; maybe I was hoping for something mellower. Still the flavor is at least interesting, so I’d recommend with reservations (try a sample if you can!)

Nicely balanced chai blend! Pleasing aroma & taste that is not too overpowering. Very soothing and relaxing. I tried it plain first and then added milk, which I think suits the flavours :)

drank Pumpkin Spice Chai by Tazo

I found this on clearance at Kroger for less than $2 because the box was smushed. I’ll try any chai at that price, especially by a well-known brand, so in the basket it went.

The dry bag smells better than the tea tastes. Lightly pumpkiny with the standard chai spices and licorice. However, once it steeps, it acquires a weird, sharp flavor that I can’t put my finger on. It’s like someone let the cloves get dirty or go bad or something. I’m definitely not a fan. Even with milk and sweetener. The saddest part is that the pumpkin flavor in it is actually well done. Most companies screw that up, but not this time. But the spices are just weird.

While it’s not good, it’s not terrible enough to throw out. In order to use it up, I’ve been blending it half and half with Harney & Sons’ Chai, which saves it. The H & S version is spiced and strong enough to make it actually pretty tasty. Like pumpkin pie made by someone more interested in the spices than the actual pumpkin itself.

The dry tea bag smells quite interesting and lively.

I liked the taste. This is definitely not your typical chamomile or mixed floral tea. The licorice, hibiscus & company really made this interesting and different than most other calming teas.

Not super impressed with this one. I think I’ve gotten to the point where Tazo just doesnt surprise or excite me. I’m not quite sure what makes this a Christmas tea release as well…it always comes off muddy for me. The green and oolong never win over in dominance and I end up disappointed. Bah.

drank Cinnamon Chalet by Tazo

On the second day of sipdowns…

This one has been hiding in my collection for a year now and I forgot I even had it. There’s a strong cinnamon and clove combo going on but the apple and cranberries blend in quite nicely. The rooibos base gives it a bit of a baked good flavor so it ends up tasting kind of like spiced apple crisp.
