I had this at Starbucks today. I wasn’t completely impressed. This is the second time I’ve tried Earl Grey, and the second time it’s been the Tazo blend. The first time I tried Tazo’s blend, I probably oversteeped it (although I followed the instructions on the package). The resulting brew was so bitter that I needed to throw away my cup.
It’s a bit annoying that they put the tea bag in there and leave it in. It means that you need to open your cup after a certain steepage (and how can you figure this out?) and throw away the teabag before your brew becomes bitter. I had this particular latte with soymilk, since I’m lactose intolerant.
While it was enjoyable, I didn’t think it was anything particularly special, and I still don’t think I’m a fan of Earl Grey. Maybe it’s Tazo’s blend that’s not spectacular. The soy didn’t really work with this; the nuttiness of its flavor pretty much completely masked the taste of the tea, and I instead was left with bergamot-nut. It was pretty odd. Easy to drink, but not compulsively sippable. I didn’t finish the entire thing.
Preparation
Decaffinated teas usually reflect that in their taste- it’s to this tea’s credit that it doesn’t taste quite as decaffinated as some others. Yes, I can still taste that it’s decaffinated, but not as much as most others. That said, this green tea has lotus scenting, and is pretty darn well done for a teabag. The lotus notes aren’t too strong, so I can still taste the green tea, as well as a soft lotus flavor. If Tazo made this in a full-throttle version I’d definitely buy it. In it’s current form, it’s drinkable, which is far more than I say about most decaf teas.
Preparation
I think I accidentally knocked off someone’s tasting note when I updated the information and added a picture for this tea. Whoops! My bad. (Blushes in shame).
Anyway, it’s a nice tea if you want something decaff and different. You can take it plain or with milk. It’s one of those teas that goes wll while you are busy working or chopping wood or something like that. Just sitting and drinking it doesn’t work too well.
Preparation
This is definitely my favorite herbal tea. I never even noticed the spearmint flavor before reading these reviews, but I love spearmint, so maybe that’s why I like this tea so much (and so much more than other chamomile teas I’ve tried). It’s so peaceful and relaxing.. but that’s probably a placebo effect : )
Tazo makes good tea, I like the bottled green tea, there’s a little mint in it that makes it a little sweeter!
