drank Strawberry Vanilla by Unknown

I received this in a TTB that I organized long ago on another site. It was a home blend by one of the participants, made to replace one of their favorite teas when it was discontinued. I picked it for my morning class tea, as I was still craving something sweet. I definitely get the sweet strawberry flavor, its very smooth and creamy. However, I’m getting more of a chocolate flavor than a vanilla flavor. Its still very good, just not quite what I was expecting.

What? Another site? Do tell. Or maybe I shouldn’t spread myself too thin, got my hands full already.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of reddit, or know how it works. It’s basically a link aggregation site. It’s divided into specific sections for just about everything. My favorite tea related sections are reddit.com/r/tea and reddit.com/r/teaexchange

Drank this yesterday evening. I was needing a caffeine boost, and was craving a sweet chocolatey tea. This always smells so delicious steeping up. However, I accidentally let this go longer than I meant, and it got a bit bitter. The chocolate was still there but I wasn’t getting any orange. It was completely my fault, but I would recommend not going past four minutes with this one.

drank Coconut Chai by Premium Steap

Just finished this off. I enjoyed this, especially with milk. The coconut added a creamy aspect. However, it was a bit weak for my tastes. I would really like to find a strong coconut chai!

drank Hairy Crab Oolong by Virtuous Teas

Finished the rest of this off today! I’m still inexperienced with oolongs, so I’m not super sure of what I’m saying. But I would say this was a nice, lightly floral cup. It was very refreshing and kept me alert while studying!

Wow. I wonder how well this is selling, with such an inviting name! :)

I received it in a traveling tea box, and I was definitely a bit hesitant at first!

Uh-oh. This smelled a bit soapy before I steeped it. I’ve heard stories about coconut going bad, and now I’m worried to drink this! Of course, I just showered, so it could also be that..
After steeping, it still smells of that delicious bakey coconuty smell that I was expecting. Maybe it hasn’t gone bad!
Hmm, so there’s definitely not as much taste, most likely because I’ve had this for a while, but it doesn’t taste bad. I’ll have to finish the rest of this off quickly just in case!

I received this in an exchange with wheezeybee, thanks! I really love smoky teas, which seem to be something that most people feel very strongly about, either love or hats. I needed something yesterday evening to keep me going through studying. This seemed perfect! I don’t remember much about it now, but I do know that I enjoyed it!

Teeehee, love or hats! Apologies, typos/funny autocorrects make me giggle :D

Emilie

No, its pretty funny! That’s what I get for typing on my phone!

Cold brewed this so that it was ready to go when I got back from class. I think I like this one better cold honestly. I feel like you just get MORE. More of each flavor, but with no single one overpowering the others

Iced 8 min or more

drank Holiday Chai by Stash Tea

Study study study! This class is keeping me busy and tea is keeping me going. I have a couple of bags of this that I haven’t tried, and I was looking for something to brew up quick so I could get back to studying. I added some milk to it, and I really liked it! A nice spicy chai. Probably one of my more favorite of the bagged chais that I have tried. Even better than some weak loose leaf chais honestly.

drank Assam TGFOP1 Blend by Unknown

Finished off the last of this! I’m up bright and early to start my EMT course. I’m really excited and nervous, so I wanted a cup to calm me, but I also wanted caffeine to keep me going since it is a 6.5 hour class! I haven’t had much straight black teas yet, so it’s still difficult for me to comment on this. I really need to try more so I can understand the differences between bases and really know what people mean when they talk about Assam, Ceylon, etc.
As for this tea, I added in some interesting almond and cashew cream that I found at the store and thought would be fun to try. This is smooth and not bitter or astringent at all.

drank Valentine's Blend by Harney & Sons

I received this one in a swap, thanks to whoever sent it to me! I really enjoy chocolate teas and I’ve been excited to try this one. I normally steep my black teas for about three minutes if I don’t have a particular time for them. However, on the bag was written a recommendation for five minutes. A bit long, but I wanted to give it a go.

As soon as the water hit the tea, a sweet smell floated out. After the five minutes, I finally get to taste it and…it’s bitter. I don’t get any of the flavors, just a bitter tea taste. I added some milk to help cut the bitterness, which it definitely did. I’m still not getting any chocolate though.

As I sit here typing this, and it cools, however, I feel like I’m getting more creamy chocolatey flavor. Yep, definitely chocolate, though not a very strong flavor. I think next time, I’ll drop the time down to four minutes and give that a try. At some point, I’ll also try a cold brew to see if it brings out the flavor any more. For now, I’m not super happy with this tea, but I feel like that may be due to my brewing and not the tea itself

Bio

I’ve lived in Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Maryland, Texas, California, and Oklahoma. I’m just waiting to see where we end up next!

My preferences are towards black and oolong teas but I love trying new and/or weird teas! I’m finally learning to enjoy green tea.

We recently moved to about 6500 feet above sea level and I’m still trying to get the hang of the lower boiling point! Any tips would be appreciated :)

I really love swapping, so if anything in my cupboard catches your eye, please let me know!
