Gyokuro can be translated as “jade dew”. This tea is treated as a luxury for a special occasion since it is rare and expensive. Making gyokuro requires a lot more manual labor than usual sencha. Three weeks before harvesting trees are cowered traditionally by special bamboo tents. Shading creates unique smell of leaves and taste of the liquor, which is naturally more sweet, mellow and has rich and complex flavor.
