This loose sheng pu er is harvested by hand from the 800-year-old tea trees in Duo Yi village, at the highest point of Nannuo mountain. Sourced from a single small stand of ancient wild trees, this tea comes from a higher altitude than our Sheng bings and is double-roasted in the traditional Hani minority style. This tea is produced for consumption by the farmers themselves and is not intended for the market. Only a small quantity is produced each year and we are only able to obtain it because we are personal friends of the farmers. Its taste is clean, sweet, and pure, like liquid sunlight. We call it “High Mountain Immortal Dew” in homage to the tales of the legendary immortal sages who inhabit the remote peaks of China, and who subsist entirely off of the sweet morning dew. This is my personal favorite tea.
Instructions: Use approximately 6 grams, rinse once with boiling water. Steep in a small gaiwans or teapot at a full boil for 5-7 seconds, gradually increasing the time after the 4th steeping. One dose yields 7-9 steepings.
