“I’ve been pretty thrilled with this month’s club box from Verdant. A Dian Hong (Yunnan Golden Buds), a pu’er pressed with honeysuckle, and this sheng-style Moonlight White. I’m usually not a big...” Read full tasting note
Yue Guang Bai – sometimes translated as “Moonlight White” – is an unusual traditional Yunnan tea. While most large leaf assamica picked in rural Yunnan is sun-dried to make sheng pu’er mao cha, Yue Guang Bai (as the name suggests) is instead dried overnight. The large buddy leaves are covered with silvery down, creating a tea with an appearance similar to Bai Mu Dan. Xingyang has been experimenting with Yu Guang Bai, and pressed these organic leaves from their partner farms in Jinggu at the end of 2016. This unique tea is exciting both for every day drinking and for its storing and aging potential. We look forward to seeing where Xingyang takes their craft in years to come!
