From thepuriTea

The lychee fruit is native to southern China so it makes sense that this tea is also from the region. Our Lychee Green Tea can be enjoyed hot or cold, making it flexible and fantastic tea for anytime of the year. With a base of premium traditional Chinese green tea infused with fresh lychee fruit makes this tea one we couldn’t pass on. There aren’t many flavored green teas but we were able to find one which appeals to novice or seasoned tea drinker, with the dynamic flavors of this unique green tea. Try it for breakfast (with a Greek yogurt and honey) or for lunch with your favorite sandwich or drink it after dinner with a sweet dessert.

Have you ever received/bought a tea that for some reason, be it fear of not liking it or some silly notion that it needs to be saved for a special occasion, and then end up never drinking it until it’s almost stale?
Well… that is this tea for me. The ever so generous QuiltGuppy sent this one my way eons ago and its been sitting in my sample bin ever since! Thankfully it was in a vacuum sealed foil pouch so it seems to be relatively fresh, considering.
And, as feared, the tea falls into an odd category for me. Pleasant. but not my style. Lychee often translates to “flowery” for me, and this is definitely that. Fitting, when I am in the mood for it, but I prefer the “rose” flower flavour over Lychee.
The tea itself is very smooth though, and light. That part, I really enjoy. I know my Mum would love it, so I’ll save some for the rare occasion she is in the mood for a spot of tea with me.
Thank you so much for sharing QuiltGuppy!! what a treat. I know of many Steepsterites that’d fall madly in love with this beaute

EDIT: on my third steep now, and the cup has cooled down considerably. REALLY enjoying this chilled with a bit of sugar. If I ever was to ice a tea, this would be it

This is a lychee tea that falls more into the floral than the juicy category. But only initially.

At first, the taste is floral (but not soapy or heavily perfumed), but in a delicate way. It’s almost like a scented blossom tea, with a lot of flavor packed into a delicate pretty little thing. The sip then ends on an almost explosively juicy note and lingers that way.

As the tea cools, the juicy lychee notes creep further and further forward in the sip and the floral becomes the secondary aspect. I would imagine this would do excellently iced, as a result.

This one can get a little bitter if the temp is too high, so best watch that.

I’m really, really sad thepuriTea is going out of business.

I finished off this sample as a cold brew this afternoon. I didn’t like it as much prepared via cold brew method, that seems to have brought out a smoky element to this green and I don’t get much lychee. I really liked it hot, but won’t be getting anymore as the PuriTea is now out of business, oh well.

I just woke up from a nap. I feel like I’ve been sleeping too much recently but for the first 3 months of my injury I didn’t sleep at all. Maybe my body is making up for lost time?

Oh god.I swear all the closings of companies I love is going to turn me into a tea hoarder someday.

I’ve been holding onto this (like most of my offerings from here) in airtight sealed bags for virtually forever, because I know I can never ever get them again and I am so incredibly saddened by this.

Thankfully it’s still fresh tasting, and I’m winding down to the bottom of this one so I know it won’t go stale on me before I can finish it.

This definitely falls on this flowery side of lychee, though the finish is juicy and more like the fruit. I really enjoy the base they use here, it’s smooth, subtley sweet and light. Fickle, though.

Any lychee green recommendations?
