Farewell my dear green caramel! SIPDOWN! This was one of the first teas i ordered when i was exposed to so many different teas through steepster. I have to say over time it hasn’t lost it’s happy place with me. I still find it quite enjoyable, though there are many other teas out there that i prefer. So far though, in terms of green caramel teas – The Persimmon Tree is my go to.

Azzrian

Awee what a bittersweet sipdown. This is a good tea!

Sil

yeah but it makes me happy that i’m finally getting around to getting through some of the first teas i ordered…in less than a year haha

WOW! This is special. Its one of those teas you have for the first time and wonder how you lived without it for so long. The smell is intoxicatingly caramel. The leaf is so pretty with little bits of caramel and goodness here and there. Not sure what some of those little chunks are but they look pretty. :)
You absolutely can taste the green tea in this even with a nice presence of caramel.
So I really REALLY love caramel but more often than not caramel teas seem to disappoint me for some reason. Maybe I expect too much or perhaps the flavoring is too artificial in some cases. This tea delivers a true caramel flavor and a lovely green tea base that compliment each other wonderfully! Maybe somehow the rooibos helps in this blend.
I realize I have been a Persimmon Tree Tea fan girl as of late and there are a few flavors I have tired I did not care for but today has been a perfect 10 for their blends!
Oh and I got this for only .59 cents with my loyalty points and free shipping!
:) Yay!

I can’t believe I neglected this when I ordered from them! Thankfully their samples are $1 with free shipping.

Azzrian

Yes but if you request a specific sample for them to add to an oder they always accommodate. I usually get three samples or so with each order! I love this place!

Kittenna

Bugger… I was looking at this one too! Just drank Coconut Creme and was happily blown away!

Azzrian

Oh this is WAY better!

Kittenna

I believe you. Their site appears to be down atm, otherwise I would be compiling a shopping cart full…….

Kittenna

(I was also thinking that whenever I send someone, be it you or whomever, an order from Persimmon Tree, I may also order from say, Upton, and get things from 52teas…. I’m planning this, I am. :D)

Azzrian

Yeah I have not been able to get their site to load all night.
You can send whatever here Kitt … will get it resent to you – is it better on your end to get one big box or several smaller ones? I am off to bed soon PM me which is best.

gmathis

This sounds great. There is just not enough caramel in the world.

Azzrian

I agree!

Anny Oxidant & the Tea Bullie

Oh, I so have to try this!

Another small sample from the Persimmon Tree…

hmm, this is pretty nice! It’s a Chinese green, I believe with a bit of green rooibos and some caramel flavors. I saw a few little round pods in my dry tea, not exactly sure what that was. This is definitely on the sweet side which would make it more of a dessert tea for me, though I am not finding the sweetness to be too overwhelming which is nice. It has a nice caramel flavor and aroma. I might consider a small can of this for when those after lunch cookie cravings arise. :)

See my review of Mandarin Silk to read my little Persimmon Tree Tea Company story.

This was one of three teas I recently ordered from this company, I was not disappointed!

I had this after eating a chocolate and I still was able to notice the refreshing sweetness, AND taste the green tea in the most pleasant of ways!

I drank some while working on Season 4 of Doctor Who, I don’t have much left. I don’t know when the doctor switch up happens but I’m already sad about losing #10.

Tangent!

I’m pleased with this tea, I got the smallest tin but could see me reordering for sure. It’s fun to figure out what your staple teas should be by trying lots of new ones. :)

Brewed at 175 degrees for about 2 ish minutes.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I miss 10! :-(

Kittenna

I’m on season 4 of Dr. Who right now too! I’m moving pretty slowly through it though, because I’m watching it all with my boyfriend, so we get through maybe 2-3 episodes a week, max, and last weekend we watched basketball instead of Dr. Who… sigh… :P

TeaLady441

I miss 10 too, although I didn’t like his last episode: The End of Time. (no spoilers don’t worry – but I just wish I’d skipped it)

You’ll miss 10, but 11 is quirky and cool, while … well he finds good people to travel with.

ohfancythat

I was researching David Tennant last night, haha. He married the girl from the daughter episode!! Born in 84 and he was born in 71. Interesting considering the character. I don’t want to talk about it in case Kittenna isn’t there yet.

I’m going to miss him a lot…. I look at pics of 11 and I’m like NO, just… No. I’m sure he will grow on me but there’s no way he’s as expressive and animated as 10. He’s not even gone yet where I am and I’m already looking forward to the anniversary show!!

ohfancythat

I didn’t like Donna Noble enough in the Christmas special to want her as a companion but now I’m a fan, I’m just stubborn. Also I liked Martha.

ohfancythat

It sucks because my hubby isn’t really into sci fi tv shows like I am so I’m watching this all alone with no one to talk about it with!! He was gone to NYC for five days last week so I was plowing through Doctor Who like nobody’s business!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I liked both Martha and Donna in their own ways, but I know a LOT of people who didn’t like Donna at all- at least a first. I’m desperately waiting for Series 7 to come out on AmazonPrime for free. At this point I’m tempted to just pay for the episodes just so I can be up to date. I don’t want anyone to spoil it for me.

11 did grow on me, but personally I like Doctor # 2, played by Patrick Troughton. I grew up on classic Who. :-)

ohfancythat

I figured I had enough catching up to do if I started in 2005 so I didn’t even think about the original series!! I like Donna now, she’s no nonsense :)

TeaLady441

I know that. My bf teases me for liking it and I want to GUSH about it so I have to turn to the internetz. I didn’t like Donna in the bride episode either – I really didn’t want more of her, but she was pretty good when she was properly introduced to us. And yeah – Martha was SO GREAT.

I didn’t like 11 either when I knew I had to move on. I think after I finished with 10 I waited a few months before moving because I just didn’t want to. I just didn’t like the look of 11. But he is expressive too – he’s totally different but also totally cool – seeing him makes all the difference. (He’s just not as pretty. Ah well)

I had considered watching the originals, but like whatshesaid I thought I’d start with the 2005 series, and then if I like it I can try to go back to the old stuff.

Prior to infusing the aroma of this reminded me of my Grandfather because it smelled like his Almond Pistacho Ice Cream he used to eat! As I infused this it morphed to Mostly Caramel scented with a little green tea scent underneath.

This is the song I am choosing for this one

Caramel by Suzanne Vega

I did sip this right away after my infusion was complete and thought it it was pretty good…a nice combo of green tea and caramel. But as the liquid cools at room temperature for a little bit I noticed the magic happen! The Caramel Flavor doubles! It’s very yummy! The Caramel is genuine and helps cut the craving for sweets, I suppose!

This is really terrific!

The caramel is center of attention here but the green tea flavor is noticeable in the background, too, and there is a little Rooibos sweetness coming thru but not very much but that is ok because I wouldn’t change it!

Another winner from this company! They are 3/3 in my book so far!!!

This is one of those blends that I wasn’t so sure about, mainly since caramel and green tea just don’t go together in my head. They seem like opposites, caramel is rich and desserty and green is light and refreshing. But this has some really rave reviews, and samples are so cheap. Impossible to resist!

In the little sample bag this smells deliciously good, like fresh candy corn and autumn. As good as it smells I was worried that the green would be lost, but steeped it’s quite the opposite. The green is bright, with grassy and fruity notes, and the caramel comes in at the end. It’s between a heavy and light flavor—it’s quite caramel-y and reminds me of GMT’s burnt sugar oolong, since while it’s rich it’s not heavy. In fact, I could see drinking this quite frequently as a morning or afternoon tea!

I was iffy about this one as well. I think I might try it next time I order samples.

Alphakitty

With how cheap the samples are, I think it’s definitely worth trying! Especially if you like caramel.

Thanks to Meowkattack for a sample of this.

When I first saw this tea I didn’t know what the heck to expect. Typically “caramel” stuff is reserved for black teas only. I wasn’t sure how this would work with a green tea base, but I have to say it’s not bad at all.

I agree with others that it works as a nice desert green tea, even though they typically aren’t thought of that way. Caramel lovers will not be disappointed..

Azzrian

I love this stuff

Thank you to QueenOfTarts for passing along a nice-sized sample of this! This is my first experience with The Persimmon Tree.

Upon opening the package, the leaf mixture smells sweet and caramely. I used 2 teaspoons of tea for 8 oz at the below parameters. The yellowish-brown liquor smells a tiny bit roasty and sweet. First few sips are toasty upfront, but end with the sweetness of caramel. Very interesting blend. I don’t really feel the need to put sweetener in this as it might overwhelm the toastiness of the tea, but I will for experience’s sake.

Post sweetener, the roastedness is much more muted, but the caramel really pops. Both ways are enjoyable! This is going on the shopping list!

Thanks again QueenOfTarts!

This is a backlog from a few days ago. Unfortunately I failed to take good notes about this tea, but I do remember that the flavour was quite reminiscent of creme caramel rooibos teas (which I thoroughly enjoy), although there was a definite sencha flavour that I was able to pick out. However, I decided that although this is good, I’m likely to stick with straight rooibos versions if only for ease of infusion. However, this tea is quite tasty, and I will happily finish off my sample packet (paying close attention to infusion time/temperature!)

Another tea from the traveling tea box. This one immediately appealed to me – it just smelled delicious when I opened up the little bag. I also have loved everything from The Persimmon Tree Tea Company that I’ve tried, and this one is no exception. The dry leaves smell very strongly of sugary caramel. The tea itself has a sweet caramel aroma with a hint of toasted rice. The flavor is initially grassy from the green tea, but it has a toasty finish. There is a light, almost burnt tasting caramel aftertaste that follows. Overall, it’s a little lighter flavored than I’d prefer, but the caramel flavor does become stronger as it cools. The toasty rice flavor is a nice addition, and it almost reminds me of caramel popcorn. It is also surprisingly creamy for a green tea. Perfect afternoon tea after a morning of running errands!

-Dry blend has large flat green tea leaves and twigs and small red rooibos with large yellow petals and caramel pieces.
-Dry leaves smell overwhelmingly of sugary caramel. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet caramel with a hint of toasted rice.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy medium yellow color.
-Fresh grassy flavor with a toasty finish. Light almost burnt caramel aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener.
-Very good tea. A cup of creamy caramel with a hint of toasty rice. Slightly reminiscent of caramel popcorn.
