From The Essence of Tea

From memory, I think this might be the first Autumn puerh tea that we’ve stocked. I don’t have anything against Autumn teas, and I think they’re generally rather over maligned. I just find they rarely match up to strength of character of a Spring tea.

When Mr. Feng sent me a bag of samples from his autumn pressings from the past few years, I must say my excitement was slightly muted. This BWQ was the first one that I opened, and after tasting it I was ready to admit that I needed to reevaluate all my preconceptions about what autumn tea could be.

Rather than being slightly muted and flat, this tea was vibrant and rich. The qi was present and very pleasant and the liquid was thick and concentrated in the mouth. There was a slight astringency to the tea liquid, but that changed in the mouth to induce saliva and linger as a long, evolving aftertaste.

Needless to say I contacted him straight away and asked him to save some of this tea for us. Autumn or not, this is a very nice puerh tea.
